Weather is looking a bit rough for the afternoon and my top will not go up on my 2000 cab. I purchased about four months ago without owners manual and I'm wondering if there is a troubleshooting section, or if anyone can advise as to a manual override method? Emergency brake is engaged but when I push the close button, the light in the dash flashes. There is nothing in the way of the top that is preventing it from going up. Any suggestions welcomed! Thanks in advance.

I had same problem a long time ago. make sure that the emergency brake light is coming on while the emergency brake is set. if the light is not on the top will not move., also as OH 997 said check the hood and trunk. I recently had this same problem and after a shutting the car down and just waiting a while it started working again normal - never did figure out what was causing the problem. can you hear anything when you hold the cab. top button? or does the light just flash? their is a way to manually move the top to the close position, but I do not have my manual with me right now and it seems as if there was a bit to it.

TJ, Even if the rear engine cover appears closed, open it and re-close it. I had the same prob on mine and this got me back going. Good luck, RB

It works! However, I have no idea what did it. I opened and shut the trunk and rear compartments.....and let it sit for awhile, and it's OK now. Thanks for the ideas. The top malfunctioned on my 2000 boxster one time and the metal bent, broke and poked through the top. $3500 later, I'm a little nervous when it comes to top malfunctions!
