That's a great looking car, but if it's in your budget to go 996TT or 997S, I would test drive those before you pull the trigger.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks again for all the great inputs....'I love Rennlist!!'....that should be a bumper sticker =). Anyways, went down to Denver and testdrove a few more p-cars and found one that stood out from the rest....02 C4S, 13k miles, $58k...DEAL OR NO DEAL!?! I've yet to testdrive a 997S and 996TT so cannot compare =(. Would really hate to buy the C4S and find out later that the 996TT or 997S are much better cars. Nothing worse than buyers remorse. Here's a couple of pics...

POST 2Original post

what options? PS: that looks liek a sick Combo

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not sure how the options were packaged but it did have nav, dark wood interior and the upgraded shift **** and handbrake (part of design pkg?!?). Is the price accurate to where the market is currently or maybe wait until the dead of winter to pick one up for less $$$?!? (since it'll sit in the garage until spring anyways).

POST 4Original post

That price looks fair. If anything, I'd say it is on the low end of market. I wouldn't wait, if you're sure it is the car you want.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I would REALLY like to take a 996TT for an extended testdrive prior to biting the bullet on this one. There just doesn't seem to be any around in my neck of the woods (Fort Collins, CO). Any local turbo owners willing to educate me on why I should get the TT over the C4S =)??

POST 6Original post

good price and if the PPI checks out, it's a great car. I'm not a big fan of the wood pkg, but that a personal preference. Prices might be lower in winter, but my experience was that selection was also lower. End of the summer season seems to be when there are the most around with people trading up to the next year model or unloading the "toy" before the cold months. I doubt you'd find a TT at that price in great shape and with low miles. Obviously a TT is going to be significantly faster and more visceral to drive. I drove an 05 997S prior to getting my 996 C4S and other than the interior, I prefered almost everything else on the C4S.

POST 7Original post

That's a great looking car, but if it's in your budget to go 996TT or 997S, I would test drive those before you pull the trigger. I love my car, but reality is that I could have afforded to spend more to go newer and more power (I bought an '00 but wish I would have gone '02 or newer). I am happy, but if I could do it over again, I would have spent a bit more to get a bit more. The good news is you can't make a bad decision (if you do your homework and a PPI)...

POST 8Original post

You can't compare a TT against a C4S without watching this clip from Top Gear. http://coochas.com/porsche/Resources...TTvs996C4S.wmv I offer not because of its content, but because its ending is really funny.

POST 9Original post

yeah that video is a classic! I do like thinking of my C4S as "enhanced".

POST 11Original post

..nice rack on that "C4S" at the end, even if they are man-made.

POST 12Original post

I am in Ft Collins. Did you go over to Highline Motors? They had a nice C4S over there awhile back. A good friend of mine has a 996TT. Not saying he will let you test drive it, but you never know. After having it for a weekend, If I had the extra money I would have the TT.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I drive by there everyday on the way to work (HP/Intel). They currently have an 01 C2, 04 Targa, 99 Cabrio, 01 C4....no C4S or TT....also checked with Ed Caroll, no luck!! They've got my contact info so waitin' around for either dealer to get one in. Tesdrove most of te cars listed above plus the Boxsters and Caymans they had at Ed Caroll....just doesn't compare to the C4S in Denver. Funny thing happened when testdriving the Targa up Horsetooth Reservoir (great place to testdrive cars by the way)...took that uphill hairpin turn at the bottom and got the backend loose a bit then I hear this 'clang' by my right foot. It had aftermarket pedals that were clipped on (not screwed on) to the oem pedals...scared the crap out of me. Anyways, I get back to the dealer and I hand the salesperson the brake pedal, "I nearly killed myself when my foot slipped off the pedal while braking....". Needless to say, he was pretty embarrased..."Ok, take $10k off the car!!". Ask your TT friend if he'd like to grab a brew sometime...

POST 14Original post

Did you try the Prestige or Rocky Mountain Auto down in Denver? They have few Turbos.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I might drive down this weekend. Been to Rocky Mtn Autosport and Rocky Mtn Eurosport but not Prestige. Might just have to go back to CA to pick one up...should be fun driving it back. Rocky Mtn Eurosport. Whadayathink of all this red?? Price is good, low miles, nav, aso. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2001-...QQcmdZViewItem
