Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All - When I park my car (2004 C4S Cab) in my garage for a day or two without driving, is there any long-term impact of leaving the top open? I don't see any mention of this in the manual. I'd hate to leave it open for a day or two and then find out I shortened the top's life by several years. Thanks,

POST 2Original post

you wont shorten the tops life, but if left down for an extened amout of time you sometimes need to "help" it to close by pulling gentaly down so the hhok can engage the windsheild

POST 3Original post

Don't leave it closed if you can avoid it, as eventually it will leave marks in the top where the cloth is tightly folded. In terms of life expectancy it shouldn't make any real difference unless you are putting it down while wet.

POST 4Original post

Mine has stayed open for days on end ....with no apparent ill effects after 18+ months.

POST 5Original post

I store mine all winter long with the rag top down and the hard top installed. I place a soft towel between the fold in the rear window. I don't know if that makes any difference or not, I just do it. My top is in fine shape after 6 years and 92,000 miles. During the "driving" season, I leave to top down sometimes overnight, the only ill effect is dust gets in the cockpit.........that is generally enough reason for me to put it up as I am parking it.

POST 6Original post

^^ Exact same way I store/use my cab during the harsh CA winters.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks to all for the info. I think the consensus is that it is okay to leave down so long as there is no moisture is on the top.....and since I'm in Vegas I seldom have to worry about that.

POST 8Original post

put it up and cover it. leaving it down will wrinkle the top and get dusty inside
