Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used 5.25" mids from a 136KP set for my doors, they are good but not great.

I used the old speaker, cut the cone, but used the outer edge and stocke mounting brackets...siliconed the new driver into the edge of the old drover, mounted it on the grill and that was it...

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Does anyone know how to gut the factory 4" speakers to make a set of Focals fit? There is always mention of this but I don't see where I am supposed to cut. I also remember seeing someone selling adapter plates to fit the factory grills, but I can't remember if it was on these forums or on Renntech.

I'd prefer an installation that can be reversed in case I don't like it. I am not keen on cutting and glueing.
I cut and glued some Bostons in there, nothing special, but much better than the stock speakers (Magnets? I don't see any stinkin' magnets in here!) If I did it again, I could cut them much better, so if you start cutting you might order up a couple extra grills to have on standby.
There was somebody selling a universal adapter that will connect any after market speaker with our grills. I forgot to save the link but I think it was posted on either this forum or Renntech but I have been unable to locate it.
Plantraco,
This is from an earlier thread that list the Focal speakers that can be used in our cars:
I put the 100KP's in my dash and they are great. I used 5.25" mids from a 136KP set for my doors, they are good but not great. The 5WS for the 13KS which are specifically subs for small enclosures would be much better. I got my 100KP from Woofersetc.com for a pretty good price. Since then I found this source (
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/vipmobileonline/17.html
) which seems to have the best price for Focal, only $105@ for the 5WS.
