Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just bought fenders, bumper and light to upgrade my '99 996 to a ppost '02 996 I need a bodyshop that can paint the fenders and bumper (not a Porsche dealer, because they will ripp me a new one) and if anybody did this before (maybe replaced the part themselves and has pictures that would be great....might do everything but the paint job myself.....would be a great LONG weekend mod!!

POST 2Original post

Diana's auto body, ask for Javier [phone removed]. He did my 02 facelift. In Venice.

POST 3Original post

that sounds like an expensive facelift .... how much for the parts and where did you pick them up? Thx

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

actually I got the fenders, bumper and lights from a rennlist member! Voor 1400 bucks and a car collision repair place across the street from my studio charges me only 600-800 to replace the parts and paint them!! So for around 2K I am done...while I have seen quoted for 5K and up!

POST 5Original post

Call Venice Collision Experts in Venice.....Raj did my facelift...its more than just putting the parts on...did you get wiring harnesses for the lights? and there are a few things you need to do for fitment....If they know what they are doing, its a breeze and if not, it can be a nightmare.....I think the number is [phone removed].....$600-800 to paint and replace parts is WAY low.....I wouldnt trust that...they are repainting the front of your car for $600????? Is it Earl Scheib?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

the work on BMW's all the time and the owner gave me a deal, because I have my photography studio right accross the street and he likes it when the girls get lost and knock on his doors!...it it cheap, but then again it is black paint!! They use factory paint and I have checked out their jobs..looked fine to me.... Yes they are repainting bumper, fenders, blending it into the doors and even repaint the hood! I was expecting about 1400 but 800 or even 1000 is he needs to buy parts works for me. He going to take about 3 -4 days, which is fine with me. About the extra parts....my P has litronics right now.....do I still need a wiring harness?? I need the front lip still. and one of the grills is missing. So I have some work ahead of me...but looking at your car Newport........looks GREAT can't wait!

POST 8Original post

great...also check out my photo work Nicolaas.....my site is still being finished, but you'll get the idea....Yes wiring harnesses are still needed for the newer style lights...they connect differently than the old lights. Some places splice the wires and cut the old harness, which can be problematic down the road and lead to things like shorts...but a new harness that plugs to the lights and is a Porsche part is the way to go...I think it was liek 125 per light or something like that....I also di dthe Turbo rear bumper too....I think it looks great...next is the rims! here is my site, I'd love any feedback..... http://johnrhonephoto.com/V3/index.html

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks I will get the wiring harness, because I don't like electrical problems..because they are very hard to track down, once they happen. I love the turbo bumper! About your rims..I am not fond of Chrome om sportscars (love them on SUV's) but rims is very personal and they look good with your total package. Checked out your site..looks pretty good..love you car portfolio! Did you shoot the carrera GT in studio?? I have shot a couple of cars for Strut car wear...and it is a B...to light out cars....you did the perfect job! Is you studio in Newport Beach? I live close by in Huntington Beach, studio in Long beach

POST 10Original post

Actually bought the car with those chromes, I was never sold on them and I always planned on switching them out...I have black 19's coming next week. Actually the Carrera GT shot was the Auto show in LA! My studio is in Hollywood....

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Black 19's lucky you...my favorites, but my wife doesn't like them....I love black rims!! Just found out my car is going to be lowered Tuesday with H&R springs....very happy with that..looks like your P is lowered?! By the way you can make good money selling the chromes!

POST 12Original post

Very nice Homepage, John. Beautifull g.... hmmm cars in the portfolio. Nicolaas, lets see som before/after pictures when you are done

POST 13Original post

yeah....mine is lowered...PSS9's....I LOVE them...I think Iwill actually go a tad bit lower when the 19's are on...But we'll see.....Yeah I plan on selling them, plus I got a CRAZY deal on the 19's....I may actually come out ahead!

POST 14Original post

Hey John, Car is looking great. I'm about to install the PSS9's on my cab. Do you have the specs you used? Cheers, Stan BTW cool web site

POST 15Original post

I have no clue.....I had them installed at Lucent here is LA....they knew what they were doing as the do TONS of 996's with teh PSS9's...

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

LOWER?? You going to be a bottom scraper..I read somewhere in Rennlist, that the ride is not getting more comfortable going that low...becomes very rocky...but if you like that and track you P....it is going to look great!!! that's for sure

POST 17Original post

Well...I scrape the front all the time already...but with PSS9's you can adjust to taste...maybe ill go a little lower, and it its too low...i'll bring it back up....

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well the owner was a little on the low ball side...the final estimate is about 1200 bucks, for replacing the fenders, bumper and lights and painting the fenders, bumper and hood....still a pretty good price...probably get him down to 1000...I just want him to do a good job and it looks like he will...Monday or Tuesday next week I will post the new turbo front images!!!

POST 19Original post

Thanks, I'll fire off an email to Arling and ask his advice. Cheers, Stan

POST 20Original post

This thread is exactly what I was looking for. I have been looking to trade my 01 996 to a later model because of >02's fresh facelift, but you guys have provided me answers to my problem. Are you done with all your facelift mods? Looks like your avatar pic has the new facelift. Xenon headlights being expensive plus all the parts for 02+ facelift sounds like an expensive mod, but it should be worth every penny.

POST 21Original post

Hey, newport. Looking at your badass 996, I would have never guessed it was 99. Mine is 01 black/black C2 coupe tip, and I have been looking to trade in my car for later 996 so I could have the newer front which I think is absolutely stunning. Can you give me some info about the price of the whole facelift mod and places where I could get the parts? I'm also in L.A. Your website looks awesome too. Cheers.

POST 22Original post

European Car Magazine is doing this face lift with GT3 look. Somethin' like "making a $30K 911 look like a $100K 911" Too bad that magazine is so expensive.

1000.00 to replace fenders, bumpers, lights, and then paint fenders bumper and hood? Thats so cheap I dont know if I would trust someone that cheap. Just to get a front spoiler and hood paint is about $1200-1300 I have seen from "Good" shops that have state of the art paint facilities.
