I love black and have had my share but just can't commit to keeping them clean anymore.

There are several companies that make the product, 3M is supposedly the most reliable so if you go this route, I definetely recommend 3M.

I wouldn't recommend attempting it without prior experience.

I would change your avatar to that wheel shot too.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

WOW Newport! I am assuming that the calipers are what you changed. They look awesome! I would change your avatar to that wheel shot too. It is an incredible shot. Congrats.
I am going to be painting mine later this summer.
What suspension do you have in? The car looks really mean lowered with those nice wheels!
Also, those first two pics are some of the best looking P-car pics I've seen on the board in a long time. Very nice work (pics and mods
)

can never be to black for me!!! Love the Yellow....when I am ever go for the black rims....this will be the way to go for me...and then our cars will look like twins....but for now your car wins the badass mobile price!!!
Thks Robyn! Remember those Boxster days...we have come LONG way..lol....When you getting a CGT? I know you are!!!!! Either that or you will be driving a RSR on some track.....I wanna take pics of the red one!!!!
Damn, that first pic needs to be in your avitar! One bad MF!!!! I love black and have had my share but just can't commit to keeping them clean anymore.
Keep us posted on the interior mods. Any ideas???
I completely agree w/ everyone on this board that your car looks amazing with the right amount of exterior Mods. The wheels/calipers are great but your TT rear bumper w/o bumperettes in combo with the TT exhaust tips are sizzling hot
Thanks Botsy....I also feel ya...Wife forced ZX-6R sale.....what a rush...will we ever forget that? The CLOSEST thing I have felt to a superbike is a REALLY fast roller coaster.....but with a superbike its more G forces....ugh....
Newport,
Which front end and side skirts did you go for?
I have to say, that those lines are the perfect choice (and I might have to emulate you - which is the greatest form of flattery
).
Also, did you redo the whole front end to the 2002+ version, or did you get another car? lol
Thanks!
-td
lol....front end 02+ update.....Turbo front and GT3 Mk II skirts...oh those are not the TT exhaust tips, they are custom made for cheaper than the TT tips and are LARGER....so it looks pretty mean with those big pipes.....
Thanks Newport... Will check them out for the exhaust tips.
Regarding the Kawi, yeah Man, it's tough seing others riding around on Rte 1, 17, 9, skyline and other beautiful roads in the Bay Area. To compensate, my wife let me get my 1st P-car w/ stick so that ease the pain nicely heh heh
Whoa... that is one bad MF. I have been shopping for a black/black SL55 AMG for its mean stance, but after looking at your car, I changed my mind. How much did all those mods cost you approximately?
Were you by any chance at Landmark restaurant last weekend? I think I saw a similar car there.
Clear bra? Could you give me some info on that - price and vendor?
Having bras on cars were at one time not recommended since it could cause uneven paint color in the long run. Clear bra is a solution. Can you post your car front pic with the clear bra?

i can give you some advice, some parts are good used, Porsche dealers have sales, and match prices of other dealers usually...lastly if you are at all good with tools...do the mods yourself....90% can be done fairly easily. If you need an awesome body shop, use Raj at Venice Collision/Culver City Customs...[phone removed]...they know Porsches, do amazing work, and are very reasonable...Lucent in west LA is an awesome shop for parts and service for all your mods, rims, suspension, etc....Arling will take care of you. There is always 3 ways to do just about every mod...research it, then look for the best way for YOU to do it....
Thanks for the info. I am thinking about upgrading my 01 headlight to a 02+ headlight conversion, like the ones you have on your car. I will definitely check that place out.
Here are some pix...... I negotiated the clear bra when I bought the car a couple of years ago so I'm not really sure about the cost, but I seem to recall the retail cost is in the $800 range.
You really don't notice it until you're right upon the car and look at it from the right angle.
'Nupe - PLEASE tell me that those are VERY old pics and that you now have clear side markers on the car!

Thanks for posting those great pics with clear bra. It covers quite of bit of space, up to halfway of the hood. Now that being clear, it would not cause any difference in color over the covered and uncovered area over many years, would it? Which is better, to get the front painted every few years to cover up stone chips or have a $800 clear bra?
Members are just as dependable as the P cars. I guess the saying "you are what you drive" is right ha ha
I've heard a couple of different opinions on this. Some people claim that some of the clear bra products contain uv inhibitors that cause the paint under the covered area to fade at a slightly different rate. I haven't experienced this personally as I haven't removed a clear bra that was on for an extended period of time. If I needed to remove my clear bra for some reason and found this to be an issue, I'd probably just replace the clear bra.
There are also some claims that some clear bras yellow over time. After two years, I've yet to experience this. My clear bra is as clear after two years as it was on day one. There are several companies that make the product, 3M is supposedly the most reliable so if you go this route, I definetely recommend 3M. You might want to do a search to see what else has been posted on this topic. If a search doesn't answer your questions, you might want to create a new thread.
Lastly, some people claim that the value of a re-painted car is less than a car with the original paint. I don't view my car as an investment so I don't really worry about that. My point is, if you're trying to make a decision based on economics, compare the cost of routinely repainting the front end (including added depreciation expenses) vs. the cost of clear bra re-applications after X years and go from there. The value of X?.... solicit the opinions of others.... OK, I'm starting to state the obvious so I'll end my post here.
Definitely go with the pros. I wouldn't recommend attempting it without prior experience. If you have a good relationship with a dealer, I'd go with their recommendation. Otherwise, go with a body shop that you (or people you trust) have had good experiences with.
