Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello Everyone,
I am a new proud owner of a 2003 Targa. In addition, I have a 1997 993 cab, however I am not very familiar with 996 accessories etc. I was hoping someone could take a look at the following ling and let me know if this product
is any good.

Thanks so much

As the proud owner of an 03 Targa, I don't know why you'd want to screw around with an off brand short shifter when for another $25 you can get a B and M. Also, your seller has 9 negative feedback responses in the past month. This deal has disaster written all over it....spend a little money and get something with established reliability...and stick with a more reliable seller too. Chuck
I might have mis-spoken myself...I meant that this doesn't look like the authentic B and M...not like anything I've seen anyhow, and certainly not like the one I had installed in my 996 a short time ago. I only paid $199 for mine from one of the reputable Porsche supply houses...there are knock offs that profess to be B and M but are not...and I'm skeptical about this one...and I'm even more skeptical about your seller.
That is the B&M unit that bolts to the transmission and has 3 adjustment points for the throw. Ruf and Techart also has units like it but they cost more.
Consequently, if you are looking for the US version of the authentic B&M Shifter from an authorized US distributor, we carry it.
If you have any questions on the item listed, contact bmracing.com and ask. Although it does appear to be their product, the packaging is a bit different from the original.
Standard unit, in car: Part # 45135 (this is what we carry)
Under car unit: #45183
Here is a link the B&M web site.

The first shifter is the one you want if you want to install it from inside the car (as opposed to under the car like your ebay link showed). Click on the More info button. At the bottom of that next page are the installation instructions.
Thanks for everyones help, I have purchased products from this Ebay company in the past and experienced no problems. I was not looking to change my actual shifter.. just the throw itself. And that is the reason for my choice.
I have a B&M undercar SSK. I like it a lot. I have test driven cars w/ the console mounted SSK and the feel is about the same i.e. shorter throws, stiffer action, a little more effort. I chose the undercar unit because there are 3 different settings to choose from, the setting w/ the most reduction (30%) is about the same as the console SSK. I had it installed by my shop (1 hr) so I can't comment about install. But FWIW the mechanic commented that the undercar SSK install was less fiddly than the console unit, however he did have the benefit of a lift to get to the tranny where the unit mounts.
