Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is anyone running performance Cats with the stock exhaust? Are performance cats worth the money when it comes to P-cars? Do they provide more hp than an exhaust upgrade?

POST 2Original post

Cats will give more power then an exhaust upgrade. Now the real question is IMO the cats get about 10-12 HP compared to about 5 for a exhuast. Is the 7 HP worth the trouble if the cats burn out sooner or if there is a CEL.

POST 3Original post

Word to the wise, only trust the responses that can show dyno sheets of the gains.

POST 4Original post

I've heard anecdotal evidence that running sport cats offers higher horsepower at higher revs at the expense of lower horsepower at lower revs. Remember, racers generally have different requirements than about town drivers. It really depends what you are hoping to accomplish.

POST 5Original post

I have sport cats on my 02 and I do get CEL's. Right and left bank out of range for the rear O2 sensor. If I reset and take a long interstate drive it might last for a couple of days. Around town I've reset and had it back on the same day within 30 miles. They sound nice but may not be worth the trouble. For a track car it would be another story.
