Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I measured my front brake pads before and after- 9 or 10mm going in, 8-9mm after (OEM new is about 11mm), again I was surprised, even though there was plenty of hard braking the brakes have lots of wear and even if I did need to change pads it's a snap.
Leading evidence: 'Replace pads it's a snap' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace pads it's a snap' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just finished my first DE event and had a blast- I have listed some observations that hopefully will entice the 996'ers that are on the fence to try an event.
at the novice level the event will not trash your car. I noted some wear on my tires (Mich. pilot sport N1) but there is still a ton of life in them and they don't last that long anyway. Street tires work fine and it will be a long time before my skill level will catch up with the need for track tires.

I was a bit frustrated at first as I realized that I have been driving my car wrong (in terms of performance) for a long time, with the assistance of a successful racer as an instructor I learned that smoothness is everything and sharp turns and squealing tires is bad technique and kills speed.
I don't know where the limit is on these cars and I'm not that interested in finding out but I did find out that street driving, even spirited driving does not come anywhere close to what the 996 can do. The only way to safely explore the performance enevelope of the car is on the track-with kids, bikers, deer and cops there are no good roads to really unwind on.
it's great fun to hang with other P-car folks and the number and variety of cars is something you do not see anywhere else. Everything from 356, 914, 924, 944, all the 911's, turbo's, racecars and other good cars too-M3, M5, etc.
I'm glad I did it and for sure I plan do do at least one or two DE events next year. The downside is that the event takes the whole weekend and can get kind of pricy if I have to travel, stay in a hotel, eat out.....BUT IT'S WORTH IT
Excellent. Welcome to the addiction. I think that you will find that many of your views about our cars and driving in general will morph the longer you participate in DEs/autocrossing/racing.
The most important thing is that you had a good time. I can certainly understand that.
Tire squeal is not necessarily a bad thing especially on street tires. That is your tires talking to you and you can learn ALOT about the car by listening to your tires. If they aren't chirping you ain't pushing it!
Watch out......starting down the DE path becomes a very slippery slope and the cost can really add up. But so worth it!
Just ask TD where he started and where he is now
The event was at Gratten, near Grand Rapids, MI (this track pops up in Car and Driver occasionally as a test track) and was sponsored by the Western Michigan Porsche Club.
