Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, My name is Ted and I work at a Porsche service shop near Portland Oregon. One of our customers has a 996 and tracks his car frequently with hoosiers. He has recently blown his engine. We haven't disected his engine yet to see what caused it to blow, but we think it might be due to oil starvation. I have heard that it is not good to run slicks on a 996 without some sort up upgraded oil pan baffling. The g-forces are too much for the car's oil system I guess. Anyway, I was wondering what options are available for this customer to prevent this from happening again? Are there any upgraded oil pans on the market? Any input from people that track their cars would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for the help, Ted. P.S. I tried searching, but didn't come up with anything helpful.

POST 4Original post

In addition to the BK Product, Porsche also upgrades the baffles/pan on cars with the x51 package, you should be able to order those parts from Porsche. Finally, you could used the accu-sump. Please let us know the reason that you discover for the failure since this issue has been debated here before in the past on multiple occasions. https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...64#post3397864

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the ideas guys! I will be sure post as much information as I can about the engine failure.

POST 6Original post

I believe Suncoast sells the X51 oil pan for around $200.
