Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

There is a post on the GT3 board where some guys run these on GT3's at the ring.

Joel Rieser of PCA said if you dont use N-rated tires, choose a tire product line that is N-rated in other sizes as the next best.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thinking about ordering a set of RE050A PP or my coupe
Three questions:
1. I know they are not N-Raed or oem porsche approved but with the number of good reviews should I be concerned? I dont track the car and for the most part drive pretty tame.
2. People who have tried these, how do they compare to the s02's and PS2's? I'm looking for longevity and road noise.
3. What happen to the "Get what you pay for" slogan? Why are these cheaper then the s02's and yet have better reviews and feedback, Is it all just hype and advertisement?
I know this subject has been brought up many times, and I dont want to get into an N-Rated vs. Non N-rated discussion. I just want to know if these tires are any good or if I should pay 600 extra for the S02.
Please let me know what your personal experience is with this or if you've heard anything from other members.
TIA,
Peter
Peter,
I just put these on my C4.
Here is why i did it.
I had factory Dunlop 9090's which kind of sucked. The fronts were 5 years old and REALLY sucked. I had horrible understeer even though they werent worn out, they were just hardened from age.
They are N-rated in other sizes...some 997 Turbos and C4's come with them from the factory. PS2's arent N-rated in the size i need anyway, but are a good tire for 99-01 996's. Joel Rieser of PCA said if you dont use N-rated tires, choose a tire product line that is N-rated in other sizes as the next best.
The SO-2's will be discontinued in the next year. I dont want to replace the full set now and not be able to get new rears in 12-months.
RE-050A's are OEM for the Enzo and the F430, so are good tires from a Major manufacturer
The price is GREAT but is only an introduction price... they will probably end up the same price as all the others (SO2's, PS2's etc)

I cant comment on life or road noise.... well i do have the shortest rear tire life ever... 12 miles !!!
I got a blowout on the freeway at 70MPH when some sharp object dug into my brand new tire. To be honest, i didnt even know i had a flat except for the sound (big POP like a rock got spat out from the tire and a rattle as the object spun once around my wheel well), and the smell of hot rubber as i toasted the sidewall while getting off the freeway. I was taking the car gently as they tires werent scrubbed in yet, but it handled like nothing was wrong.
I have a Cab with PSE, no i can barely hear even the loudest road noise from the tires :-)
I only have 500 miles on them right now, but so far they are great and handle well. Understeer is really reduced. They make a different noise too. The Dunlops screamed like the dukes of hazzard, these kind of make a low humm sound when you push them a bit. I'll try them at the track (im a novice so wont push them too hard) in a few weeks.
I've got all of 12 miles on my 050A PP's and my initial impressions are that they're relatively quiet and feel pretty responsive as far as turn-in goes. I'll try to get MikeR to comment as he's had his for a while on his C4S and has done a track event or two with them as well.
thanks guys..
the ps2 dont come in my size (285/30/18), I would have to do the (265/35/18) which I do not want to do.
I guess if the Potenza's are good enough for the Enzo and F430, then It should be good enough for my tame driving.
As far as price increase, is that certain or speculation? Maybe I should get 2 sets of rears while the price is still relatively low.
keep the comments coming..
I spoke to Damon at Tire Rack about this when i bought mine.
He said the price was introductory and he didnt know how long they would keep it at that level.
Im sure it would go up, but no-one knows the final price... probably competitive with the tires it replaces... SO2a ?
I have had them most of the summer. I have 3-4 track days on them as well. They are much better than the Conti 2s that came on the car. I would definitely order them again. The Tire Rack guys will tell you that they are better that the SO2 and SO3. The PS2 may be just as good. The Tire Rack guys will also tell you that the RE050As are superior to the other, older Pilot Sports (like the Ribs).
