This is not a probability of success.

Having driven the 911 for about 3 years now, and not being able to use the cel phone on the fwy due to the engine noise, I am thinking about trading it it for an SL 500.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I own a 1991 black Mercedes 300E, 2001 black-on-black Corvette, 2001 black-on-black Porsche 911 tiptronic, and I'm in my mid-30's. I did have a thought about going for the SL500 before I got the 911, but wanted to enjoy the pure-bred sports car while being under 40. Having driven the 911 for about 3 years now, and not being able to use the cel phone on the fwy due to the engine noise, I am thinking about trading it it for an SL 500. 911 is definitely is a fun car on a short trip during weekends and especially on freeways & highways, but just like the most people who had the 911 for a few years, I found myself looking for a little more luxurious ride. Based on my observation in L.A., SL500 owners are definitely older than our cars. My dad doesn't enjoy the firm ride on the Porsche. Anyone here traded in an SL500 for a Porsche 911? The ultimate solution is to get both cars, obviously.

Obviously? I'm older than you by quite a few years JJB........but I have no problem admiting to anyone......I'm not old enough for an SL.

POST 3Original post

I LOVE my C4S but there are days and occasions when the comforts of the MB (a CL600, not SL500) make it the car of choice. Although it's great having both, if I had to pick one, it would be the p-car. Friends and relatives don't always enjoy the ride of the p-car but it's not often that someone rides with me.

"Obviously? I'm older than you by quite a few years JJB........but I have no problem admiting to anyone......I'm not old enough for an SL." Whoa, what car collection you have. I checked out your website. It's awesome. Are those all your Porsches? I said "obviously" coz having two cars like SL500 and Porsche 911 offers best of both worlds - luxury cruiser and pure-bred sports car. I am glad I found this website.

Regardless of all the bad raps and image issues with the Vette, it is actually fun to drive with all those torques. Since you have or had the C5 Vette, you'll know what I am talking about. Stepping on the gas from a traffic stop, the acceleration on the Vette feels totally different from the Porsche. Aside from the Vette being a fun car, there is the danger factor when it gets flipped over. And having driven it for a few years, I am ready to move on. I don't like the negative image associated with the Vettes.
