Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have about 1.5 years left on the lease on my Carrera 2, which I pay about $900/mo. The pay off is approximately $38,000, and I get the pinkslip. Given this situation, is it not better to purchase the car outright at $38,000 rather than paying lease or rent payment which $16,200 still needs to paid monthly? Thanks, in advance, for your input.

POST 2Original post

depending on the year of your P and if you want to keep it in the end or use the other 18K you don't have to pay on this P for the down payment on your next newer P.... I bought mine...but normally lease all other cars and give them back after 2 years...and get something else (new, other)..with the P I thought I would love it for a long time and purchased it....got I for a little over one year...and am still in love.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Mine is 01 black/black tip with only 22K miles. Regardless of whether I want to keep it after the end of the lease, it seems making lease payments for another 1.5 years is a waste when I can just make payment towards the purchase price of $38,000 even though the payment will be higher. As with other P owners, my car is always garaged, rarely left out in the sun. Interior is like brand new, so I don't mind keeping it. I just wish that mine was 02 or higher, so that it would have that newer headlight look like yours. I might do a 02 headlight upgrade if the cost isn't that pricey. Your car looks very clean too, and black/black. Those stores look like you're on Sunset Beverly Hills.
