Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just brought the car down to have the GHL's put in. When I got there there was oil all over the right front wheel well and fender. They are going to put it on the lift and see what's going on. I suppose if it's the cooler they'll have to flatbed it to the dealer. I thought it was oil on the road, but after thinking about it, I can't see how that much oil could have been picked up without me seeing it... Anyone experience this before?

POST 2Original post

sounds like your oil cooler, hopefully its not damaged from road debris and is jsut a seal or something. good thing you caught it when you did, could have been very bad if you were dumping oil while driivng; either oil starvation or oil slick on the road

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hooray! False alarm. Somehow I drove through someone's oil slick. They said I should clean the inner fender with simple green to keep the plastic from deteriorating due to the oil. Net result is an additional half hour onto Saturday's washing.

POST 4Original post

That must have been one hell of an oil leak from someone's car!

POST 5Original post

Be careful using Simple Green - especially if it gets on anything aluminum. If it is not rinsed, re-rinsed and thoroughly re-rinsed with clear water it can cause metal etching and corrosion. We airplane owners used to use it all the time until the Military discovered its detrimental effects on metals. They now have a special formula (I'm assuming a weaker solution) that is specially meant for aircraft (and is easier on the metal). Make sure if you get it on metal parts you take extra precaution to rinse heavily.
