The story on the PSE is this: I took the car in for warranty work, it had the porsche extended warranty on it, this was at 6500 miles, one of the diaphrams or something in one of the actuators for the PSE was leaking, and i waited and waited for it to come in, and they made a mistake with ordering it or something to the fact, so i bitched them out and they replaced both mufflers and hardware for free!

I was out of town and told my wife to pick up the car from the dealer and that I wanted to see the old parts, and they nicely put them in the trunk for us :-) So eventurally, i ran across a new actuator on ebay, and i've an extra set if i ever have this problem again, but i want to offset the cost of the fabspeeds by selling my original PSE's.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
I'm Joe from Chicago, a paying RennLister...however i can't seem to figure out how to correlate my membership with my discussion forum registration.
I am the owner of a 1999 Porsche C2 Cab with 8k miles on it. I am finally thinking of doing some upgraded such as the fabspeed exhaust and some 18" or 19" wheel upgrades, i've searched and searched the archives and have found some very good information, however i'm looking for a definitive answer...
will a 19X10 with a ET56 fit and look right on my car. The tire size would be a 275/30/19.
the fronts are 19X8.5 ET 47 235/35/19 respectively.
I know it has been an object of discussion about the proper offset of a 10.5" rim and an 11" rim. I did the simple math and it looks like it MIGHT work, but i'd rather know for sure than spend 2 grand on a MIGHT.
I also have the factory 17's for sale MINT MINT with 8k miles on them, wheels and tires stored in a climate controlled garage and the car has been on stands to avoid any flat spots on the tires.

My car will never see a track, so i'm not worried about weight, ect.
I also have a factory PSE set up including mufflers and hardware i'd like to get rid of and would like to try the fabspeeds. This set up has 8k miles on it also.
I'm also looking into an aero wing and sideskirts if anyone has any information on where to get these, i'd appreciate it.
Again, i apologize for the newbie questions...but we've all got to start somewhere.
Thanks!
Joe
Joe - Welcome to the Porsche Phunny Pharm. FIrst off, concerning the 19" wheels in yjr rbay link. Assuming you currently have 8" wide front wheels with 50mm offset 10" wide rear with 65mm offset, the ebay wheels would EXTEND by 9mm, both front and rear which SHOULD work.
However, I do not know much about 17" wheel widths and offsets, so I am just "guessing" on the current wheel widths and offsets in the above example. Here is a wheel offset calculator you can use. Simply enter your current wheel width and offset on the top and then the "new" wheel width and offset on the bottom and it will give you the difference.

Check with Suncoast or Brandywine Porsche for the MK I side skirts. I would recommend you stay with OEM skirts, because most of the after market skirts are made of fiberglass and are brittle.
How much do you want for the PSE?
Hi Joe and welcome!!
By my calculations it appears that the wheels you mentioned should fit. However, if I were you I'd call an expert like the folks at Wheel Enhancement to make sure (
www.wheelenhancement.com)
.
For the aero pieces you can try Suncoast or Carnewal (I have had good luck with both).
Finally, are you sure you want to dump your PSE? Many consider this to be the best sounding 996 exhaust. Before you make the switch I'd recommend going for a ride with someone who has the fabspeed.
Good luck.
I agree.
I didn't specifically have PSE on my list of options when I was shopping and ended up with it.
It is now something that I could not imagine not having.
It is absolutely a must have for me on any future Porsche purchases
Well,
The story on the PSE is this: I took the car in for warranty work, it had the porsche extended warranty on it, this was at 6500 miles, one of the diaphrams or something in one of the actuators for the PSE was leaking, and i waited and waited for it to come in, and they made a mistake with ordering it or something to the fact, so i bitched them out and they replaced both mufflers and hardware for free!
Clear corners look like a great idea!
So if anyone would like to trade exhaust plus some cash, or if anyone would like to buy them outright, throw me a fair offer!
I know i need to drive it more! I drive ALOT, my 03 E55 AMG has 75k miles on it, my 03 Escalade EXT just turned 100k today actually.
Hmm...i think that wheel offset calculator may be wrong, or my thinking is wrong. I was playing with the specs here and here's what i got.
The offset of my 17" rear is ET55 9 inch rim
the offset of the 19" rear is ET56 10 inch rim
so doing basic math using 12.9 mm as one inch. The difference of the 2 rims is one inch, now i would divide that in half, for sake of half of the rim is on the outside of center and half of the rim is inside of center, that would make my wheel stick out 5.45 mm more than the 17" wheel
not 12mm as the calculator says? or am i doing something wrong here?
Thanks
agghhh....I don't want the rims to stick out an extra inch ! half an inch maybe i can live with...
Next question: If i go with the 19" sport classics for 997 as i've seen some other people do, could i fit a 305 30 on that rim, and would it fit under the 996, has this been done before? and i heard i wil need spacers for the front?
Whats the going rate on a nice set of 997 sport classics? i've seen them on ebay upwards of 4k!
8000 miles on a 99????? You have the perfect car for a "nose job".......making the 99 into a 02+ model!!! Because driving 1K a year, you can keep the P by my calculations: for about 59 years to get to the 67.000 miles I have on mine!! So it would be worth is spending about 5000 bucks on a nose job!!
But seriously get the garage queen some daylight and try to get her about 7000 miles per year!!:LOL
1992 cab - check your math, one inch is more like 25.4 mm! That would explain he difference. 13 mm is a half inch. I would stick with PSE, the fabspeeds are quieter than the PSE.
Best,
Bob is correct. There are 25.4 mm in an inch. So going from a 17" wheel by 9" width and an offset of ET55 to a a 19" wheel by 10" width and an offset of ET56, the new wheel would extend 13mm or an additional 1/2 inch. That would work OK.
I would not go with a 305/30/19 tire, which would be well above the generally accepted +/- 3.0% difference from the original tire size. Here is a tire size calculator that will gice you a lot of good info.

997 wheels will fit fine. I have the Factory 997S wheels on my car and they look good. The fronts could use a spacer (I have heard 7-15mm) but the backs are squeezed in there and look really good(IMHO).
thanks guys,
I'm not sure where i got 12.9 mm equals one inch! sounds like thats the problem there. I was thinking about the nose job, but the best deal i could find on parts was the kit fron la porsche dismantlers for 5k plus ship! any experience here? is it direct plug and play with the xenons? I really like the 02+ look and am seriously considering it! I'm sick of people saying hey! nice boxster.
Anyhow...thanks for the input!
Probably because you've been telling your wife that you have a 9" tally-wacker! You measured it at 116 mm divided by 12.9 mm equals 9 inches! How can she refute that? If she ever finds out that it's really only 4.5" you are sunk!
Buy a C2 Coupe. Then they won't mistake it for a Boxster!
I feel like an idiot for assuming an inch equals 12.9 mm...thats like saying a foot = 6 inches. I wasn't too sure so i googled it, just like we all do when we don't know something, go to google. This is what i got...now if i would have actually took the time out to READ the big bold letters in front of my face, i would have actually comprehended it. Surely you can see how i made the mistake....lol.
