Suspected cause
I recently saw a lapis 996TT with a black interior, and to my surprise, I thought it was the best combo I've seen with the Lapis.
Leading evidence: 'best combo i've seen' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'best combo i've seen' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thanks for the responses.
P-Car - I've heard this sentiment a lot... Unfortunately, I actually prefer the brown shades... but I just think that limits me too much as I'm looking to get into my first 996...
Stan -- I only included the colors that I was going back-and-forth between in the poll. But you're right, in retrospect, I should have included blue for reference...
metropol blue is my favorite, too. the porsche beige is too yellowish for my taste. the natural leather brown is a good alternative albeit at a higher price.
Thanks
I really like it, although the color is difficult to capture in photos, in bright daylight it is a mid blue but at night it really appears a lot darker (but never a royal blue like it sometimes looks)
I have the full gray leather which I think works very well
However (controversially for this forum) I may be trading it to get into a cayman 's'
totally agree with both these sentiments
the beige can look like baby**** yellow
the natural brown is much better, and pretty unique, although I still think its suited to aston martins and jags etc more.... it just doesn't feel very germanic.
How about a choice for BLUE!!!!!
I vote for Blue!!!
picked up my Lapis Blue C4S with Blue leather interior on Friday.
My second choice would have been Black. Just my opion but I didn't like beige. Almost bought a Lapis Blue with a beige interior but I couldn't get past the beige dash or beige steering wheel.
I like Natural Brown if you can find it. I have the Savanah Beige, thought I would get used to it...it is the only regret I have, wish I got Metropol Blue. Don't care much for grey interior with any color. Just my $0.02.
It is tough to capture in photos - in sunlight the car has a purplish almost lavender color to it. I almost ordered a Boxster in Zenith/Gray. Great combo!
I have a Lapis Blue C2. The interior is Graphite Gray with deviating carpeting in Metropol Blue. I think that combination is very nice looking. The Metropol Blue carpet really ties the exterior color to the inside and also makes the interior a little darker and gives it some depth. Here are some pic of my interior combination. Sorry for the poor quality.
I've got the same combination as gota911.
Lapis blue exterior and center console, graphite grey leather and metropol blue deviating carpet and stitching, with a full OEM wood kit thrown in for good measure (it's a garage queen, not a track car)
Had an 84 carrera coupe painted midnight blue at the factory with light grey interior.
Now have 97 993 cab in Zeinth blue with tan.Much more of a stand out combo.
I think it looks really good w/the top down.
My Lapis Blue 996 came with a Savannah Beige interior, so I have grown to like it. It makes the interior seem larger. It kinda grows on you, but so can mold, so there you go. My non-P-car-owning buds like it. They think it's beautiful.
Prefer Lapis Blue Metallic wrapped over Savanna Beige. Blue-over-blue or blue-over-grey just looks like overkill to my eyes.
Natural brown might look alright; but I prefer the contrast of Natural Brown with Black, Basalt Metallic, Midnight Blue or Atlas Grey. Back in the day, I actually had a black Audi A4 with custom Terra Cotta interior (or natural brown, in Porsche parlance). It's a striking colour combo.
Beige, although the Savanah beige is a little yellow. I would have preferred natual Brown, but they are very hard to find. Also, with the brown there are issues with misc interior parts, like vents, etc. that are not available in natural brown unless you find them in leather, so you end up with contrasting colors.
I like (and am looking for) the gray interior. The first one I test drove had Savanah Beige. It looked
really
bad, almost like it got brighter, rather than lighter, with age. Ugh-al-lee. So I started of hating any of the browns. (Apologies to those Savanah Beige owners!)
Then I came across this:

Absolutely beautiful combo! Cinnamon Brown and Lapis Blue.
Too bad it's way over my budget!
Anyone know when Cinnamon Brown started appearing as an option?

Lapis blue is probably my favorite color on these cars, because it is understated like silver but a lot less common (there are seven 996/997's in the garage at my apartment building and six of them are silver!).
Usually I would have thought grey or tan would be the best interior color with blue, but for some reason I really don't like either in the 996. I recently saw a lapis 996TT with a black interior, and to my surprise, I thought it was the best combo I've seen with the Lapis. Probably hard to find though, because "black and blue" is probably not a combo most people would order.
Curious if anyone here has that color combo.
Dharn55 - Maybe it's a trick of the camera, but most of the Savanah Beige I've seen in person or in online photos looks really orange-brown to me. Nothing like the links pictures...
Is there any way to discern the colors from the VIN?
Does anyone have a list of colors vs option numbers?
