Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

hi, newb here, currently have a 1996 impala ss and im looking for something a little more sporty. ive always loved the styling of the 996's. anyways my question is, ive been looking at getting a higher mileage 1999 911 C2. ive seen several in the low 20's. im kind of working with a limited budget, basically im just wondering what all the other costs are like on owning one. Is insurance outrageous? Is it always going to be in the shop? Pros/cons. basically it is either this or a bmw 330ci, but id really rather have this one. just wondering your guys thoughts. thanks.
You will be surprised at how low the insurance is.
Mechanic rates are about the same as most cars. Parts are not too different, but getting to them can be a challenge, so you can expect your labor costs to be somewhat higher.
really? i definitively thought that was going to be a kiler. i talked to a teacher of mine here the other day that races porsches and he was telling me all this reasons why it was stupid to get one, but im just not a very good listener.
Insurance premium for the car is not bad at all. Insurance is a subjective thing ... your driving history, your age, your ZIP code, etc matter a lot. Everything being equal, it is probably cheaper to insure a 1999 C2 than a 2003 BMW M3. Then again, a 2005 Corolla might be cheaper than both...
Maintenance is a lot more than Japanese cars. Oil, Filter, Tyres, Brakes -- think about $1500-2000 a year. Parts and labor rate is also usually more than Japanese and American cars.
Finally, a 911 is a 911 -- and there is a good reason why so many people are crazy about them.
Very true. I have a clean driving record and have insurance for my three cars and house with the same carrier.
As for the cost for brakes and tires - that's a little steep. Depends on how much and how hard you drive the car. If youre changing your tires and brakes each year, then you're driving it pretty hard.
thanks guys, definitively what i needed to hear. if i do get a higher mileage one is there anything i should look for, also, is it gonna crap out on me not to last or are these things just built to last?
All cars are different, depending upon their history. Get a good PPI. Even that will not guarantee a hassle free purchase. Buy a good warranty.
Even then, things will fail. I replaced my MAF 10 days after I bought my car.
Pre-purchase inspection. Get a competence mechanic to look at the car and tell you if it's mechanically sound. He will give you an assessment of the condition and point out flags, such as if the car has been in any accidents, or dubious modifications.
No problem. Good luck with the car search, just be careful and if you need advice just post here and you'll get plenty of guidance.
oh, yeah, and make sure you get a carfax on any car that you're serious about.
Yeah, and make sure it is not a submarine! One guy here (hey arr0gant, don't worry, I won't name "names") recently bought a flood damaged car. Fortunately, he was able to get his money back and got a real nice replacement.
When looking at a car don't just look at the Carfax but look into it's maintenance history too. If the owner was good about it the manual will show regular maint visits with stamps or notes with dates etc. A car with good records is good thing.
Wow, an Impala to a 996 - that's got to be one of the bigger jumps in the car world.
I went from a 540i to a 964 to a 996 - good job, Mr. Impala man.
BTW, make sure you have enough $$$ to fix things if they break - despite the talk about the low insurance costs and cheap labor, these things can cost big big bucks to fix.
