I had the radio replaced when it ate a cd, and the problem hasn't recurred since.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, here is a weird one. On the way to work I stop off at McDonald's for a healthy breakfast. Get back in the car and the stereo will not work. Turns on, but reads Porsche. Try pushing FM, AM and CD buttons, none do anything. The CD button causes the stereo to turn off, then dimly relight. Turn off the unit. Restart it about 10 minutes later and works. Anyone deal with this? JKC

POST 2Original post

My old radio used to do something like that. The symptoms would go away when 'rebooted' by turning car off then on. I had the radio replaced when it ate a cd, and the problem hasn't recurred since.

POST 3Original post

This has happened to me before to. I just turned off the radio off for awhile and when i turned the car off and started it again and put the radio on and wala it worked again

POST 4Original post

Fairly standard amplifier problem. PST code usually shows 800A - microphone signal faulty. Amplifier needs to be replaced from old part # 996 645 333 01 to 996 645 333 02. This should do it!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Kirk. I'll print that and bring it to the dealer on my next service. For now it is working again, but I cannot have a car with a tempermental radio. JKC
