Suggestion

Suncoast sells a GT key head for $129 - sounds like it would replace a 996 head (but would still need to be programmed).

So after a month of having to use the key I got fed up and decided to just go to the dealer and see just how far they were going to bend me over to buy a new remote head and code it to my car.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If you remember my last post about my remote head... I replaced the battery, fixed the broken solder joint for the switch and the remote still wouldn't work. So after a month of having to use the key I got fed up and decided to just go to the dealer and see just how far they were going to bend me over to buy a new remote head and code it to my car. I walked into the parts dept and told the guy what I needed and asked how much it would be. He looked it up and told me it's $180 just for the head and then another $50 to code it to my car. YGBFKM?! Grrr.... So after my PCA discount was applied, I walked out the door with a bill for $217 but at least I now have a new remote head that works.

POST 2Original post

thats just sick, and im sure that the part only cost them 30 bux

POST 3Original post

Just wondering,.....is it still working fine? I'm thinking of doing the same.

POST 5Original post

I have a MY2000, without the front hood release. I wonder if this will work with my parts. It looks great!
