Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

Um, I've got an '04 with 3400 miles - but I think I want a bit more than "low $30's." Haven't advertised it at this point, but would entertain serious offers for probably the lowest mileage, most pristine 4S in the US.

POST 3Original post

Really thinking of selling your car, Phil? The OP should add "no mechanical over-revs" to his list.

POST 4Original post

White, grey, silver or black? Boring! Go for some color, like Speed Yellow, Forest Green Metallic, Cobalt Blue Metallic... or my favorite, Midnight Blue Metallic.

POST 5Original post

Quotes source post: 6668373

Don't forget Guards Red.

POST 6Original post

Low 30k? Then don't forget to add "over 100k miles" and "driven hard".

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 6668339

Yeah, then Phil's car would pass that criteria also. An over-rev" for Phil is anything over 3,500 RPM.

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 6667967

You just missed one . Good Luck And White is not boring.

If the price is right - the car's the one for someone who simply wants the best. It's essentially a time capsule 4S in a great color, very nicely optioned, maintained and garaged. Just not driven a whole lot. On (rare) occasions, I've even driven it fairly hard - yes Tim, even revved to >3,500! But, I understand today's market is very tough. Porsche built many 996's - they have no collector car value or status, and are meant to be driven. If I sell, I'd be taking a significant loss over my purchase price (car listed at around $94K, and I bought it in 2006), but someone would get a wonderful car at a fair price given it's condition, options, etc. It's basically new.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 6668376

Okay... I'll throw in Guards Red too...

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 6668222

Phil, you might as well keep the car and sell it in 20 years for some real ROI. 3400 miles... good lord.

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 6668666

Riad, in 20 years, I'll probably be pushing up daisies, or at least planting them.

Not these days....

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 6668222

that is one gorgeous car!

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 6673875

You noticed, eh? It really is as good as it looks in pics. The car is literally new.

POST 18Original post

Phil, Every time someone is looking, you always offer yours but you never just post a FS ad?

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 6674704

That's because I'm really ambivalent about selling it. When (and if) I post an ad, it will be on RL, Panorama, and likely Autotrader. I've been putting feelers out, and if I got a solid and fair offer, I would likely sell it. We all know what the 996 market looks like. It looks like my 401K

POST 20Original post

Haha, yep. I say you need a good track day with it - you certainly won't part with it afterwards. Come down to VIR in November. We have at least 3 C4Ss in our group and they do really well!

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 6668524

I sure did!!! Why did you sell it?

POST 22Original post

Check autotrader & cars.com There are a few with 40-50k miles in the low to mid-30 range. Expect to travel a bit for the right car.

POST 26Original post

Bavarian Auto in Virginia had an 02 or 03 white C4S with natural leather for sale about two weeks ago. I found them on either autotrader or cars.com I think they were asking 36 or 37K. It was a beautiful looking color combo.

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 6676870
