Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Hard to say whether the impression of better power and overall sound is due to the engine alone or the new engine plus new PSE.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank goodness for Porsche warranties: Sudden and unexpected roughness from the engine while driving at calm speeds forced me to bring my C2 to a local foreign car shop for immediate attention. The diagnostic tool says cylinder 4 is misfiring. I ask the guys to give it a quick once-over, to rule out a bad plug. Then I get a call saying there is no compression in that cylinder. Zero. I call for roadside assistance and the car goes via flatbed to the dealer in Nashua, NH, about an hour and 45 minutes away. Working under advice from the head office, the engine is removed and ... a piece of something or other is wedged in one of the valves. Cylinder wall abraded, valve and seats damaged. Rather than make me wait any longer while the engineers search for the cause, PCNA agrees to have a new engine shipped over from Stuttgart. Seeing as the engine was already out of the car, I had the PSE installed as well (no switch). The dealer then arranged to have the car delivered back to my door. Thank you, PCNA and Porsche of Nashua, for making this right with nearly no emotional or financial pain. Happy days are here again. Today was stunning weather-wise, and it was a joy to drive the back roads to and from Montpelier, Vermont, for an event to raise bucks for Parkinson's disease research. Now it's time to tend to the sunburn. -- Bill

POST 2Original post

Glad everything work out with Porsche. Did yo felt any difference on the new engine, like the sound or power? Have heard some reports of owners who had their engines changed and felt an improvment on power and aa smoother engine sound. J.Seven

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hard to say whether the impression of better power and overall sound is due to the engine alone or the new engine plus new PSE. The engine does feels smoother and slightly more powerful, as if it's breathing freely. The new exhaust note dominates now; the engine note is generally the same (I think). -- Bill
