This is not a probability of success.

Does anyone know if Pirelli does this and would this exclude me from using the tire in a PCA DE?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I apologize if this has been addressed in the past but I couldn't find it by searching. I recently picked up a nail in a relatively new 285-30-18 rear Pirelli Rosso and was going to get it patched from the inside at an reputable tire store. I understand that sometimes the tire manufacturers will void a tire's speed rating if it has been repaired. Does anyone know if Pirelli does this and would this exclude me from using the tire in a PCA DE? I'll be rather bitter if I have to blow big bucks on either one or two new rear skins because of a stupid nail. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I would not use a patched tire at a DE. And yes, a tire's rating is nullified if it is repaired. The alternative is just get one new tire and have it shaved to the depth of the existing one. Thus saving you from spending $$$ on 2 tires. Tire Rack shaves them for something like $15.
