Is this appropriate treatment or am I getting the run around?

My sales rep told when I bought the Cayenne that I should use him to escalate any issues.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My dealer quoted me $1000 to replace the RMS in my 99 cab. That sounds high relative to what I've seen on this and other boards. Is that a reasonable price or am I being gouged? He also quoted $450 for a 45K mile check. Is that right? What could possibly cost $450.
I also asked the service manager if Porsche would cover the RMS under warranty since the car has less than 50K miles (it is over the time limit) and has no history of previous RMS problems). I could not believe his response which was... no, Porsche doesn't cover cars purchased in the "secondary" market ...WHAT!. I thought the warranty followed the car and not the original owner.
I did not purchase the my cab from this dealer, but I did recently purchase a 2004 Cayenne S from them. The pepper was my 3rd Porsche and the cab my 4th. Two of the cars (Boxster and Cayenne) were purchased new and two used.
Is this appropriate treatment or am I getting the run around? What recourse do I have?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I think your dealer is taking an unusually hardline on the warranty work. As far as the 45,000 mile service fee this will seem low when you have to pay for the 60,000 mile service.
Thanks OH996. The 45K is really a 15k service. Aren't oil and filter the only non labor costs?
The RMS warranty work does seem a bit hardline. How about the price?
My sales rep told when I bought the Cayenne that I should use him to escalate any issues.
I've heard an $800 price tossed around for the RMS job, so the 1k does seem a bit high. Technically, the car is out of warranty. Asking them to bend the rules seems inappropriate from their standpoint. They need to get paid for the work back form Porsche and if Porsche isn't going to cover it, well, you're asking them to take a big risk.
Seeing as you are a repeat customer, buying new cars from them as well as service on all 4, I can see your position. I would take it up with the general manager at the dealership.
Also, class action has been mentioned a bit here and the RMS being a known issue could lead to legal issues for them, not to mention image damage, etc... for not taking care of their clientele.
Good luck.
Rick
Is the RMS issue warranty? If it is you should pay nothing. I am assuming the car does not have an extended warranty.
As far as the 15K service price I know that I paid $700-$800 for the 30,000. An oil change later cost me about $80 for the filter and oil.
Are there any other dealers in your area that you might be able to leverage? Tell them they can have the warranty work on the pepper if they work with you.
Unfortunately, there is only one dealer here in Memphis. So it's going to be difficult to leverage anything with them.
Technically the car is out of warranty, but the RMS is a known manufacturing defect and may have have occured prior to the expiration of the warranty (I can't prove that since I just got the car). While I value each $, this not about the money, rather it's about standing by your product and taking care of your client. I wonder if a another dealer would have a different perspective...
