Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, The other day a friend of mine let me take his modified 2002 996 TT/tiptronic out for a spin, and just as I started pulling away I heard a rather loud noise coming from the front end. The noise kicked in at about 5mph and definitely changed with the speed of the car. I don't know much about the 996 TT, but I'm assuming the car is 4WD and the noise I was hearing was coming from the front differential. Has anyone here heard anything like this coming from their TT or C4? Perhaps this is normal but it didn't sound right to me. My friend thought it was related to the "Evo Stage 3" kit he had installed but I didn't think so. Regardless, I've been persuading him to take it to the shop but I thought I'd check here first for any ideas.
