Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have a 1999 Carrera 4 Coupe which had some 18" Sport Techno's fitted (295 rears), but now it seems to be sitting a little too high on the standard suspension.
Leading evidence: 'Install (295 rears)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install (295 rears)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

So, what is the recommended procedure for lowering a 99 ?

After emailing Gert at Carnewal he recommended the X74 kit, but now I have been advised by Loren that this will not fit because of the differences between the MY models.

If you don't mind the posibility of replacing the shocks after you lower the car then go for it.

I'm torn between it and Bilstein Sports with H&R springs (which will run about $1500)
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone lowered a 1999 car with 295 rears on it as I am concerned that if I fit a lowering kit the tyres will catch the bodywork.
Advice, recommendations all greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ollie
The X74 is not recomended by Porsche for your modle year, but they will fit. There has been no change in mounting postition for the 99-01 to 02 on. The only difference between the cars are the shock and spring rates.
Popular choices are the ROW M030 or some coilover set up or some combination of springs and matched shocks. It really depends on your intended use and how much you want to lower it and how much you want to spend.
what about just using lowering springs. like H&R or Eibach. I don't track my 02 cab. I just like the look of the slightly lower car. Any probs with just using springs and stock shocks?
It will not handle at its best. It is recomended that you get some Bilstein HD with spring, but H&R says the shocks works fine with the the springs. Many on this board have done it and said the stock shocks wore out prematurely. If you don't mind the posibility of replacing the shocks after you lower the car then go for it.
Don't do the spring matcholo it's just not right. Go m030 row or pss9's or H&R coil overs. Don't mixmatch parts that aren't perfectly engineered to work together
How much of a difference is there between the standard suspension and the U.S. M030. My car was supposed to come with the M030, but was misordered. I have never gotten around to swapping out the standard suspension. I was leaning to the U.S. M030 because I live L.A. , and hate scraping my car everywhere I go (driveways and parking stops galore). This can be a togh town on cars.
i've got H&Rs with stock shocks on my car. the handling is close if not the same as stock, but with less body roll in the corners (not that there was much to begin with
). there is one negative, which is that when you hit a decent sized bump, sometimes the little plastic spoiler things in front of the front wheels hit the pavement. i think the HD shocks would prevent this from happening. but, then your car would ride stiffer. for me, i'm simply a glutton for punishment. i knew the matchup i put on wasn't correct, but i wanted to see what the car rode like before i put on the bilstein shocks. i'll be doing the work myself so there's not really much cost to doing this since you just have to pay for alignment again.
bilstein actually recommends using their Sport shocks with the H&R springs. this gives the car basically stock handling, but with a lower ride height. and the shocks won't wear out prematurely because they're designed to work with springs that are 1" shorter than stock, like the H&Rs or eibachs. people get the HD units because they are stiffer and ride more racy than the Sport springs. i suspect that the HD units wear out faster because they're designed for the stock shocks, not the shorter ones, but i don't have any data to back this up, just common sense.
not according to the bilstein tech that i spoke to... and somebody that owns a US porsche tuning company (i can't remember which one!) told me in an email that HDs were meant for the stock height car, but most people that lower the car want stiffer handling than stock, so the HDs are the shocks to use. the sport springs would just give them a lower car. maybe i'll call bilstein again and see if they tell me the same thing the second time...
M030 comes with shocks, spring, and sway bars. Its a good value, I'm not sure about 975, I seen it mostly about $1150. The only disadvantage is it only lowers 1/2 inch while H&R lower 1". Also bilstein have lifetime warranty and the OEM will be only 2 years I think. Check out SHOX.com they sell the shocks for $800 and springs for $350 if your gonna do the after market route.
