Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If so, I am not sure that using the non-HID lenses with HID bulbs will net you the full advantages of Litronics.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know there have been several threads on this so I think this would be good info to share with those who are in the market. It looks like $300 is a pretty good deal to me for those who want to upgrade HID. http://s92556875.onlinehome.us/4436.html

Aren't the lenses for Litronics designed differently to take advantage of the characteristics of the light source? If so, I am not sure that using the non-HID lenses with HID bulbs will net you the full advantages of Litronics. Steve 99 996

POST 3Original post

That is an Amazing price for ballasted gas discharge HID's. I would just ascertain you are really getting what they advertise. I'd be tempted to put them on my other rides.

POST 4Original post

Sounds fishy considering there are NO pictures on their site and they claim it is because of manufacturer rights. As well, this is why they state their prices are so low. Hogwash. Ever come across something like this you run. Faith is not something I employ when purchasing parts/accessories for my 996.

POST 5Original post

You can find aftermarket HID headlights wtih bulbs made by phillips and ballasts by hella. THey are about 300 to 500 dollars. I've been toying with the idea of putting them in my 996 but wanted to see it on another car first. Bobby

POST 6Original post

If you attempt to put an HID bulb into a reflector or projector that was designed for a halogen bulb, you will get some mixed results. 1. You will acheive the "HID LOOK" to oncoming traffic. This looks cool and boosts your pride in your ride. 2. Your light pattern will probably be screwy. Depending on your specific setup, you could have light going off in weird directions, too much light in one area, not enough light in another, etc... It is really recommended that if you want to put in a ballasted HID bulb that you change to a different reflector or projector that is designed for it. Most of the good HID retrofit kits cost upwards of $500-$800 depending on vehicle application. You get what you pay for....

I thought aftermarket HID conversions were outlawed in USA a few months ago?
