Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

Porsche is already using LSD with PSM so it can be done and installing an LSD really isn't a big deal.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, With a manual transmission 3.6L Carrera, is it possible to retrofit the factory option (220) LSD? Has anyone tried it before and was the installation difficult? Can you actually order the parts from Porsche for the retrofit? Do I need to reconfigure PSM? Thanks very much for your input.

POST 2Original post

To put a LSD in you have to have the tranny taken all apart. That will be pretty expensive. My guess you will be in it $4k or more. I say a better solution would be to find a tranny with a LSD and swap it, then sell your old one. I'm not sure about the PSM, call Andial they probably have more answers to your questions.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks very much for the information!

POST 4Original post

STOP! You probably already have a "virtual" (PSM/Trac, ect.) LSD. It is entirely possible that if you put a mechanical one in it will NEVER be used.

POST 5Original post

Stanmo, I'm not sure I would agree with either of the two previous posts. Porsche is already using LSD with PSM so it can be done and installing an LSD really isn't a big deal. Pulling the trany and opening it up really doesn't take that long. I would never even consider buying a used one. It will be expensive though. I'm not sure what the factory LSD costs but a good aftermarket will be in the $2k range and you should figure on a day of labor. Good luck, Jim

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will look into this issue and if I have any updates, I will let the board know. Thanks.

POST 7Original post

JimB: If you look at the lockup ratios of the LSD in the 40th Anniversary 911 they're pretty low. Speculation is that's a limitation of making the LSD work with PSM.

POST 8Original post

Hey, if I had the software sources for PSM I could disable any or all portions of its operation.
