OK, now that I picked up my 1st Porsche, 40th Anniversary and the dealer put the front plate on the car (NY requirement), how can I fill the holes in the nose that the bracket created?

I want to use my current matte black batwing but just somehow epoxy on a silver(not chrome) "911" emblem on it but I can't find one small enough to fit.

What you might want to consider is getting the small "PORSCHE" lettering used on brake calipers.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

), and when i pled not guilty, and told the magistrate i had it fixed, he knocked it off of the ticket without discussion.
Good news and bad news. I installed AS defroster pieces; an AS fuse box cover and an AS passenger umbrella storage. Those were the OPTIONAL ones. The las one was mandatory
a front license plate!
It's the ugliest mod I ever put on, but I had no choice after a warning; a ticket and an inspection sticker refusal. While the others are tasteful, the front plate looks TERRIBLE! It blocks out the "911" emblem I put on. I may re-register the Cab in Florida where I only have to use a rear plate!

Nice looking!
TERRIBLE LOOK...butt ugly, ruins everything!
Dom - Fabulous transformation into making your car truly unique and beautiful!
By the way, I have been searching how to do a batwing like yours. I want to use my current matte black batwing but just somehow epoxy on a silver(not chrome) "911" emblem on it but I can't find one small enough to fit. Where did you get yours??
thanks a ton & congrats

In my glovebox, always, is a copy of the re-order, $13, of my personal plates. They seem to be unique enough that the front one got stolen.
Seems to take forever for the State to stamp repeat personal plates, in three years now I've never "recieved" even a single re-order, I wonder if they get lost in the mail somehow.
Oh, well, time to go out and order this year's replacement.
I've got critters in my garage. The mounting posts for the front license plate must be particularly tasteful since they keep chewing on it. Why, just last Friday, I put on the new posts, and this Saturday, wouldn't you know it, the plate fell off again cuz the posts got chewn through!!. The plates and the mangled post are in the trunk, until I get new posts. The posts seem to last just long enough to get through inspection.
Bob, the TT/C4S nose fits the narrowbody nearly perfectly. You might have to alter the air intake slightly, and you probably will have to cut down the bumper mount so it doesn't show through the grilles. I bought the TT nose from a person on the another forum who was changing to a GT2 nose. The mesh inserts were done by an outfit in LaGrange, Illinois.

There are 3 inserts that are easily installed with a few ss screws. It looks great, but expensive. Some people have just bought the mesh and glued it on the back of the bumper cover itself. I can give you more detail if you're interested. Let me know. Here are the inserts before installation.
Oops, forgot your other question. The wing is the factory "Carrera Wing" option for 2002. I think it was a techquipment item.
The other question. The nose will NOT fit on a 1999...not even close. However there is an aftermarket company (I think it's called MAShaw who makes a turbo-like nose for pre 02 996s. Someone on one of the forums has one (also with mesh) and it looks excellent. I'll scout around for it.
Frank. I bought my AS batwing with the black "911" already mounted from Keith at
Prestige Parts UK
. He occasionally has them for sale, although I've only seen the AS wing with the black "911"
What you might want to consider is getting the small "PORSCHE" lettering used on brake calipers. If you got a silver one it would stick to your batwing and then you could clear coat it. I tried it on a CF batwing that I had and it didn't look bad. (sorry for the size of the 2nd pic)
Fantod, I got them both on ebay. 'Cause I'm a silver addict I check "porsche 996 silver" on ebay every few days. I've also done a few pieces myself. I bought AS sray paint from
www.paintscratch.com
as well as clearcoat from them. The match is amazing. I'm about done. I have to add the upper console surround and the 3 AS pieces that go horizontally across the dash....then I'm done! I do this because I'm keeping the Cab for a long time. If I get tired of it I'll give it to my wife (IndyCindy) and get a used TT Cab
PS: Eric (the plug guy)

will coat just about any part Arctic Sivler (or other colors of your choice) His work is impeccable. Something to check out.
i've gotten stopped more than a few times in my p-car, and whenever a cop asks me about the front plate, i just tell him "it keeps breaking off. porsche uses these cheap plastic clips to attach it and they break all the time. i have it in my trunk." i do have it in my trunk just in case, though no cop has ever asked to see it. only once did i get a ticket (i was doing 97 in a 65 getting off an exit, also didn't have an inspection sticker... oops...
), and when i pled not guilty, and told the magistrate i had it fixed, he knocked it off of the ticket without discussion.
OK, now that I picked up my 1st Porsche, 40th Anniversary and the dealer put the front plate on the car (NY requirement), how can I fill the holes in the nose that the bracket created? I have a personalized Plate which I love but I hate the way the car looks with a plate "Sticking Out" of it's nose.
Any gotta have Mods to consider for this newbie?
Oh ya, one more question, any more thoughts on break-in period? There are all sorts of opinions on whether you really can exceed 4K RPM's before 2000 miles. I am dying to DRIVE this car, I traded an Audi TT 225Q that I redlined all the time with no issue, including out of the dealers lot on delivery day, help, please!!
