Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My rear quarter window is not working. It only makes a grinding sound when attempting to raise and lower or when roof is operating. I assume it is the regulator, but wonder if anyone has any experience with this. Is the grinding noise hurting anything? I only drive the car on sunny days with the top down and have read hear, and on Renntech, that it's an expensive repair job. Provided I'm not doing damage I might just leave it inoperable for now. Any thoughts? 2002 996 C4 CAB

you need a rear window regulator, your not hurting angything. Worst case senario you would end up with a window stuck up/down.
