My rear left michelin Pilot sport cup blew and schredded on the freeway. I tracked this set only once at Button Willow, and drove them on the streets for about a month. The tire shops in the area tell me they have none at the moment. Earliest available would be next monday. That is a bummer because I was going to Willow Springs with Track Quest on saturday. Would it be OK to have michelin sport cups on the front and Pirelli Corsa on the rear? Or should I change all 4?

Tirerack should be able to have a set of rears to your door in two days.. May want to give that a try.. How many miles were on the tire that shreaded?

Call Kiki at Victoria Tire [phone removed]. Real good tire guy with great prices (but crappy location a little SE of downtown L.A.) Tell him Jim with the silver Targa sent you (just bought 2 new Pilot Sports (not Cups) due to a pothole.

I think conventional wisdom holds that you don't want to mix brands on the car. There will be other track days, but if the different tires set up some goofy handling dynamic and you loop the car do the risks to your health and the car's outweigh the benefits of making the track day? If you absolutely have to go to the track, I'd change all four.........

Do NOT mix Cups and Corsa's. The Cup is bad in the wet, the Corsa is superior in the wet but gives up some dry traction. Cups are not in short supply, you should be able to replace them. Check the wear on the blown one, you might think of replacing both rears. Regards,
