Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All Just today I had a tyre puncture so went to my local tyre shop and he jacked the car up on one side to replace the tyre. I was quite happy that once this is done I will be on my merry way. However I noticed that some green coolant was leaking from under the car- about 250ml. When we brought the car down and inspected the coolant tank it was way below the minimum mark? We then filled it with water and I drove back to work. Went for a sandwich and came back and no leak? Does anyone know what this could be? Overflow? If it is surely it would not leak as much as it did? Is this anything more sinister? Any advice appreciated. The car has 40,000 miles and is a 99 UK model. thanks Nick

POST 2Original post

Have the coolant overflow tank check for cracks. The plastic Porsche used on these tanks is suseptable to becoming brittle over time due to heat etc. I've heard from a number of P-car owners that have lost these tanks at about 30 - 40K mi - usually '99s or '00s. This is not covered under the Porsche Certified warranty. I know because I took my 99 Cab to the dealer for a $250 key head (also not covered) and ended up with an additional $500 bill for a leaky coolant tank .

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the advice. Ive booked the car in.

POST 4Original post

yeah, those overflow tanks are notorious for cracking and leaking. probably that's what's wrong with yours.
