Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, I've recently gotten into AutoX and I've got a lot to learn! It's a lot harder than it looks and so different from the track. So I'm thinking of doing this weekday school: http://solo.wdcr-scca.org/noviceWeekday.php It sounds like a lot of great experience. As you know, most AutoX's you only get 4-6 total runs, so you have to go to a lot of events to learn what you can learn in one day at a dedicated school (especially with < 5 people) Ideally, I'd like to get 4-5 people together. But I'd be willing to do it even with 2-3. This is going to make my car a lot faster than any performance mod out there for $200-$500. Anybody interested? Total cost is $1100 split 2,3,4 or 5 ways depending on who's interested. I'm tentatively thinking June 3, but any day in the first two weeks of June is fine.

POST 2Original post

I just got an email from Metro NY regarding an autocross school they have: www.metronypca.org Check it out.

POST 4Original post

nova996, I'll probably do it but, only if I don't use my car. I know that's a difficult condition but, feel free to contact me if that's a possibility. b-man

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Man, that's a tough one. Were you planning to fly here from MN?

POST 6Original post

No, I am in the Baltimore/Washington area. I just don't want to tear up my own car! My schedule is pretty flexible for the time period you are proposing. I've got a lot of track experience but, I have no plans to go back. I'm just looking to have fun with this autocross thing. The "Metropolis" in my location field is just a generic/made up place. b-man

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't think you're going to tear up your car. If you're going to autocross in competitive events after the school, it will be in your own car, right? I've done one school and 2 events and I haven't even gone through 1/2 my brake pads, let alone any other wear. Anyway, all the AutoX schools (and events) I've looked at are BYOC. So if you change your mind, let me know. BTW, do you really think Porsche put all that awesome race bred engineering in your car so it could look pretty in your garage?

POST 8Original post

I hear you nova996. But, I have no plans to do any autocrossing, schools or any type of track event after this school. I spent a lot of time on tracks when I was younger and I have no plans to get back into it. But, your offer here is tempting. With regards to not letting Porsches sit in a garage, I agree with you. My car is driven more than 99% of Porsches. I've actually have what I and others believe to be the highest mileage 2002 911 in the world. It's got 65,000 miles on it. Im hope this project comes together for you. I'm sure it will be good experience and a lot of fun. b-man

POST 9Original post

I would be interested, but I'm not sure how much I want to learn in a parking lot. I would rather go to a track and learn, are there other options you've found?

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh, there's all kinds of cool track schools out there! This is just an autocross thing because I want to get better at autocross. But check out PCA Potomac. They have a good series of schools at Summit Point and elsewhere. I did their HPDC this year. It was a lot of fun! I couldn't get into their event next week but I hope to catch on of the others this year. Also look at the National Capital Chapter of BMWCCA for some other good schools at Summitt Point. And FATT schools through BSR. I'm doing that one in Sept. So for the track there are lots of options. But for autocross there are a lot fewer, it seems. Which is why you kind of have to roll your own with 4-5 friends.
