Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If we had an electronics guru look at the amp, might they be able to design some quick little diode circuit to protect the DACS and any other attached output device, and allow us to input another analog signal through there, while using the CDR23 digital volume connection and tone controls to manage volume and tone?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So, do we think that the CDR23 sends the AM, FM, and CD information to the amp in the trunk via the MOST optical connection in raw digital format? Is it being converted to analog by DACS in the amp, amplified, and then sent straight to the speakers? If that's the case, could we insert an analog signal on the output side of the DACS, but before the amp amplifies the signal, and have it sent to the speakers? Is the volume level managment sent to the amp via a discreet digital signal? I assume you can't increase or decrease the strength of a digital signal similar to an analog connection, so for the volume to be raised or lowered, is this another digitally controlled function sent down to the amp via MOST?? If we had an electronics guru look at the amp, might they be able to design some quick little diode circuit to protect the DACS and any other attached output device, and allow us to input another analog signal through there, while using the CDR23 digital volume connection and tone controls to manage volume and tone? Clearly all of this exceeds what I really know about this system. Anyone with more electronic experience have an opinion on this theory?
