Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I'm planning on flushing my brake system. Was wondering how much new fluid would be needed. Looking at using either ATE Super blue or Motul 600. Seems like either comes in 1/2 or 1 liter. How much do you need to flush once and is there much difference between the two? Thanks

POST 3Original post

In my most humble opinion more "damage" is done replenishing brake fluid than can possibly be done by the miniscule amount of moisture that might find its was into a completely sealed system, a system designed to hold and sustain extremely high hydraulic pressures.

POST 4Original post

I've always done it with one liter. Not really sure if 1/2 liter will do the trick. I use ATE Gold, same as Blue except for the color. Keeps the dealer from asking too many questions about what I do with the car should a warranty question come up . Haven't tried Motul. No reason to.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks i'll pick up a liter of ATE gold...

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

BTW, does anyone know where i can buy ATE in person around the Los Angeles area?

POST 7Original post

i got the ate brake fluid and the power bleeder from performance products in Los Angeles

POST 8Original post

wwest, Porsche recommends changing the fluid every 2 years and PCNA bleeds the PDE cars before every event. So much for the sanctity of the closed hydraulic system But seriously, your brakes will feel and perform better with fresh fluid and the pedal will be nice and firm...

POST 9Original post

At age 64, and having driven maybe 2 or 3 million miles, and having NEVER touched, replenished, flushed, brake fluid on any vehicle except when doing actual repairs, I don't think I'm going to change that particular MO at this stage in life. And I refuse to take the opportunity of participating in club events when it means someone must mess with my life-saving measures. No thanks.
