I'm running crossovers for ever separate and two amps, a five channel Audison and a two channel Audison with an Audio Control 13 bander EQL.

I'm running the exact set-up that you are installing - you will love it!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The car is sleeping over at car audio, and by tomorrow i should get it back with a 700W 5 channel streamaudio amp.. New front 4in coaxial, back 6x9's and 10in sub all Infinity speakers..
I kept the head unit.. preamped it to the new amp..
Will surely post the pics..
Waz
Pic 1 - Box under construction. It looks one unit from the top but it's actually two units, one to enclose the subwoofer and the other is for the 6x9 speakers
Pic 2- Trial fixing and it looks just great already!!
Pic 3- New cabling with Monster Cables connecting the amp and spks
Pic 4- 10pm at Car Audio..
Pic 5 - This ferrari was fitted with a new Amp, spks, subwoofer etc.. and the shop got a call to cancel the fitting.. they stripped it back to original components!!
Pic 6 - The car before getting into the shop, my baby going Ay-OK!

Looks nice Waz!
Do you have a cover for the speakers? With all that sunlight hitting the speakers it will fade the cones and the sound quality will start to suffer.
Your setup is interesting Waz, I'd never thought to do two 6x9's in the rear. What sort of sound benefit do you receive from those rather then say, two 8" Subs. Really, by the pictures, your box would have easily fit two 10" subs. Why not that route? Do you find a lot of sound distortion since all the speakers are facing the window?
Did you keep the stock Becker? Why did you decide to keep? Do you have rear speakers? And if so, did you change those?
Sorry for all the questions...but nice work, just interested as I have a heavily modified C2 with a system in her.
Rex: thieves?? Here!?!! No way!! I am confident to say this is the safest, crime-free country in the whole world.. God bless UAE!
Itzkirb: I have a window sunshade cover which i will use.. I dont really like tinting my porsche, i want ppl to see me and my setup!!
Roby:
The stock speakers are crap, all of them.. This car didnt even have subs in the doors.. i guess it has been ordered with the lowest most inferior audio option ever!
The idea was to complete afresh the frequency range in this setup... Though power is ample but I was more concerned of a complete cover: Two 4in coaxial in front to give the surround effect.. two 6x9's to give the right response of mid and hi ranges.. and the sub to stomp the lowest frequencies!
I think one 10in would deliver more an envelope than two 8in's.. It's not about power.. Two 10inches would only give more power but not more a cover..
Speakers facing the windows: the window tilt helps a lot in reflecting the sound from the tweeters which are tilted already in the speakers.. The front coaxial tweeters make up for the difference. Bass is non-directional and can be anywher in the car..
I kept the stock becker to keep the car in its stock look. I cancelled the stock rear speakers. Their position is quite odd for sound improvement.
Finally, the amp has a crossover for each channel and i still have to work seriously on that.. I will finally get the most pleasing sound out of it..

Waz: Your setup sounds really sweet. Here is what I'm running, and it's not so bad
A pair of 4 1/4" in the dash with tweeters. (A/D/S)
A pair of 5" in the door (Eclipse)
A pair of 4" (Focal)
Two 8" subs in a custom enclosure (JL Audio - 8 ohlm)
I'm running crossovers for ever separate and two amps, a five channel Audison and a two channel Audison with an Audio Control 13 bander EQL. I've also installed a CD/DVD changer, Nav and aftermarket headunit all by Alpine. It's a sweet setup. It's been six months of getting her dialed in just right, still some tuning to go (I have a very finicky ear)...but she is clear and loud and makes me move. (And I can even hear it over my bypass pipes
) Please post your progress, I enjoy this stuff!
Roby..
From my experience, i used to have an 8in sub with two 8in triaxial cones in my previous 996.. The 8in sub was less performant than the two 8in triaxials put together.. I think you should think of upgrading to two 10inches instead of the 8in subs... that is if you like the stomp effect!
But surely your system is worth hearing, i wish i were nearby!
Tell me, is there any procedure one can equalize the sound to reach the perfect match? or is it only by listening to what suites you best?

Here's what I'm putting in this weekend
Keep the head unit. I have PCM I w/nav and I like the way it looks, stock.
Focal 4" Polyglass set w/tweeters in the dash
Focal 5.25" subs in the doors
Audison Amp
Focal 4" coaxials in the rear
It will all look stock.
I had just one 8" sub in my old 911, similar to Waz's set -up, and it sounded great. I need my backset floor space for the kids and that's about the only place to build a sub enclosure for the cab. The 5" subs should be alright though.
Rob-
I'm running the exact set-up that you are installing - you will love it! I did run a sub box behind the seat with a quick release so when I squeeze my 7 year old in the back he doesn't have to eat his knees.
The Focals are enough but the sub does round out the sound with some nice kick! There is a shop in CA that fits shallow subs in the footwell of the passenger side of P-cabs. I can get the name if you want to check it out.
I'm running the stock CDR head unit right now. I'm going to upgrade to the Eclipse CD/DVD/NAV set-up at some point.
