Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

just noticed today that each of the three segments on my carbon steering wheel have hairline cracks in them... some longitudinal and some latitudinal (sp?!). is this: a) something i should worry about b) something that is covered by the warrantee -ross

POST 2Original post

I would certainly try to get the dealership to replace under warranty.

POST 3Original post

Yep under Warranty... You will see it on ebay a few weeks later

POST 4Original post

Replace it or live with carbon splinters in your palms. I replaced my wheel when cracks appeared.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do you think this something that will be covered under the porsche certified warrantee? My regular warrantee ran out in January.

POST 6Original post

I believe having a carbon fiber wheel that DOESN'T crack is unusual. Porsche is well aware of this defect, and while it actually falls under the 2 year parts replacement provisions of their warranty, they have been lenient in their free replacement policy. I "inherited" a carbon fiber wheel when I bought my '02. I don't like the feel of a plastic (or wood) wheel, but it does however force you to hold the wheel in the proper 9 & 3 o'clock positions. When the dealer replaced mine, I told them I preferred the all leather wheel. They told me I would have to pay extra for that "upgrade" (wasn't CF about $1200 extra new?). So I'm getting another CF wheel!

POST 7Original post

I have a full wood grain interior and Porsche replaced every piece in the car under warranty. Now the arm rests are cracked again and my dealer says I would have to pay to replace them myself.

POST 8Original post

I'd quit dealing with the CF wheel and have them replace it with the factory full leather thicker steering wheel. I'm sure they could make the numbers work under warranty...
