Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I bet Porsche doesn't even have dead-set plans for the 998 design yet.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hmmm.. Thank god it doesn't make the 996 too outdated. I just bought my 02 C2 Cab and was hoping it doesn't look too different from 997.
I will wait until 2008 for the 998 for replacement...
997 does look good...
400HP will probably be way behind everyone else in 2008! The HP wars are at full speed. Although all these "inside" articles are a wild guess at best. I bet Porsche doesn't even have dead-set plans for the 998 design yet.
Personally I think Porsche and their design team have run out of ideas for the time being. I think the 997 looks patched up, the hood lines are horrible, and what worked for the 993 years ago won't necessarily work today. Maybe the Mustang..the Bug...the Mini Cooper can pull it off but I believe the 996 is the best looking.
The only problem that I see with this is that now it looks like a bloated 993. At least the 996 looked different enough that a direct comparison(as far as looks) to the 993 was trivial. The 996 was clearly different in it's own right. But now, the 997 looks like a 993 wannabe. And since the 993 has better proportions, it's going to make the 997 awkward
chitownbob....no offense, but .......WRONG!
The article says Boxer engine....not Boxster. The 996 has a "Boxer" engine.
I think there are several posts on this forum explaining the difference.
I had predicted that the 911 would eventally turn into a midengine car because the handling characteristics of a v-8 rear engine car would not be good because of packaging, weigh, size issues and would not be able to compete with other mid engined cars like the new NSX. Maybe you should read the end of the article. That article said that the 998 would offer a v-8 in a mid engine config. Although it is years away and things may change, it sounds like it might come true. And I don't take offense cause clearly you didn't bother to finish reading that article.

Bobby
I think the front of the 997 looks too much like a Beetle. It lacks aggresiveness. It looks like its been feminised which is not a good thing!
I wonder how long till body stylers will offer a 997 look for your 996....
