Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I bought my 02 996 Cab used, and by looking at the window sticker came with car in the glove box, it doesn't say anything about the PSE option. So, I assumed it was just the standard exhaust. But I was at the dealer and listen to another 996 with a standard exhaust and mine sounds much louder and beefier. I don't see any electronic switch in the cabin to turn it on or off. How can I tell??? thanks

POST 2Original post

The 02 up cars are louder than the 01 down. Also look under the car the PSE has a valve on the side to make it change the sound. Most people who adds it does not hook up the switch. You also may have an aftermarket like Fabspeed or GHL.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the quick response. I will look under the car when I get home tonight...

POST 4Original post

Get up under the car and track the exhaust line from the headers to the cats on each side. Your mufflers will be attached just after the cats... sitting up inside the rear fender wells. See what you have up in there. PSE will have an extra bypass pipe connecting the inlet/outlet muffler pipes.
