Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced battery with the real deal porsche replacement and we are all set.
Leading evidence: 'Replace battery' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect jumpers and start the car' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Trickle charge will definitely be used during next storage occasion.

I just used jumpers to open the hood, then used jumpers on battery.

Suggestion
Hook up the jumpers, allow 10 - 15 minutes of charge, disconnect the jumpers and start the car.

Suggestion
Took 15 minutes of running jumpers off a running car before the starter even groaned.

Suggestion
Was told to run a trickle charger all winter and that lead acid batteries like to remain fully charged and should not be cycled down (like the old nicad cell phones).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I left my C4S unused for too long and when attempting to start it, first nothing happened, on the second try the lights, horn and windows all started to react, but no engine. All the excitement stopped shortly, but now what?
Can I just hook up a trickle charger now or am I looking forward to something more serious?
Thanks for the input and suggestions. It may be another month before I can try this, but I will.
I'll report back with the results. Hopefully it will just be another learning opportunity.
With the C4S battery dead you're likely going to find that you can't release the engine hood or the bonnet. There is procedure for jumpering 12 volts into the fuse panel in order to temporarily energize these circuits and release the "lids". I think the procedure is now written in the owners manual.
I had a dead battery. Trickle for 48 hours wouldn't work. I just used jumpers to open the hood, then used jumpers on battery. Took 15 minutes of running jumpers off a running car before the starter even groaned.
Had the same thing happen to me after an expended business trip. I too tried the trickle charger for 48 hours but my battery was really dead. So I ended up hooking up jumper cables from another car for 15 minutes before starting the car. It took 2 tries before it turned over.
Jumping a C2 is very hard on the electronics. Its best to use the trickle charger, if this doesn't work use the jumper cables. Hook up the jumpers, allow 10 - 15 minutes of charge, disconnect the jumpers and start the car. Hopefully this works. But it sounds like a bad battery to me. Good luck
I as well found my battery dead upon trying an early spring restart. Unfortunately life was over for my 4 year old battery that would no longer hold a charge. I replaced battery with the real deal porsche replacement and we are all set. Was told to run a trickle charger all winter and that lead acid batteries like to remain fully charged and should not be cycled down (like the old nicad cell phones). Can anyone confirm this? The parts manager said if you use the charger through the winter you could get a couple extra years out of a battery.

Thought I should communicate on solution of this problem. 4 days of trickle charging did not bring the car back to life. It required a flatbed trip to the Porsche dealer, they recharged the battery and now its fixed (all under warranty). Trickle charge will definitely be used during next storage occasion.
