Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reported cause
The 993 did not drop only because it was the last of the air-cooled 911's.
Leading evidence: 'last of the air-cooled 911's' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'last of the air-cooled 911's' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Run )' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. My recent (early March) shopping makes me think there is no dramatic drop in prices and the new car market remains reasonably strong, though clearly used prices have been down over the last year.

Suggestion
That's a relief (for someone who's starting to get nervous about buying a 996 near the end of the model run).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

AUTO SPIES WORLD EXCLUSIVE- Porsche 911 and C4S owners-Ready to see the value of your car drop like a rock?

Porsches for invoice or below?

No mass production vehicle is immune to the market. I'm keeping my car for a long time so short term resale values aren't important to me. Ask me how I feel in 20 years. I think that 996 owners are better off than 964 owners who got knocked for a loop when the 993 appeared and cost less than their model. I don't this happening again.
BTW, I just noticed the ad in Porsches for invoice or below? was for remaining 2003's - they should be at invoice or below!

That's a relief (for someone who's starting to get nervous about buying a 996 near the end of the model run). Though I'm surprised there are still 2003's around this late into 2004.
What will the 997 cost and what actual differences will exist between it and the 996 besides round headlights and more power in the "S"? Sometimes, the arrival of a new and more expensive model drives up the value of prior models. We will just have to wait and see what happens to the values of the 996; speculation is not worth much.
WTF are they talking about? This 987=911-S that they pulled out of their asses has nothing to do with the C4S. The 987 is the Boxster replacement.
"And all you C4S owners that think you're safe...well, you're gonna take it in the shorts when Porsche announces the the 987 (911-S).
The new marketing technique for the 911 will mirror the Boxster formula. There will be a normal 911 AND a 911-S(30hp more than a regular 997)model. "
I was considering ordering a july production / september delivery car which would be an 05 per the dealer. I might get 5K off Msrp but in light of these issues the purchase seems like an easy way to lose 30K in 18 months.
I was told no new TT for at least 2 years?
Any ideas??
Autospies has something against Porsche. They have been bashing them since shortly after they began publishing. They release earth shattering news - the 996 will face a drop in value when the 997 comes out. Well - duh! The 964 dropped in value when the 993 came out. The 993 did not drop only because it was the last of the air-cooled 911's.
