Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

Dumb I know but after I opened and then closed it the problem went away.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My car has been in the garage for a week with the top down (I know - bad idea). I just fired it up for a quick drive and the top will not go up. The top indicator light just flashes. It starts fine btw. Any ideas b4 I have to take it in?? thx

POST 2Original post

A. Check the fuses. B. A while back, my (former) Boxster S top did the same thing. The repair order says: "Brake light switch faulty - replaced brake light switch".

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Checked fuses - there OK. I will have to see what the shop can find I guess. thanks

POST 4Original post

Mine did the same thing. It was a faulty parking brake switch so the car thought I was trying to operate the top without applying the parking brake.

POST 5Original post

Mine did this a few weeks ago. Look at the flaps that come up flush on either side of the roll bar section and see if they come up all the way. The one on my driver's side was getting caught on a wire. I just tucked it and away she went.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

tried these suggestions. When I hit the switch - I hear a faint click in the back and the light flashes 4 times. Thanks for the info -will keep start again tomorrow.

POST 7Original post

It happened to me also, turned out that the engine cover hatch was not quite fully engaged. Dumb I know but after I opened and then closed it the problem went away. It may work in your case too, try it.

POST 8Original post

newbie here. this just happened to me the other day as well. mine got stuck 1/2 way. anyway, i pick it up tomorrow morning from the dealer. i was told it had something to do w/ faulty sensors? i hope to see the repair order when i pick it up.

POST 9Original post

Same thing happened to me as Hyroller. Open and close your engine hood (is it still a hood if it's in the back?) Also, make sure the parking brake light is on when the parking brake is engaged.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And we have a winner!!! Hyroller - the trunk-hood was open. Thanks!!!!
