Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Based on search of "Auterra" I ran into a few threads on the 993 board about resetting the CEL {check engine light} using this and other OBD tools.

Suggestion

It generally is reset by the dealer for a charge and generally is some odd reading that just sets the computer waring light off.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can anyone confirm or deny that our cars have the ISO9141/14230 standard OBDII interfaces? That's what I have concluded based on the following link and what I see under my dash board. www.scantool.net I'm thinking of ordering an OBDII to RS232 adapter for my 01 and 99 from these guys. Just curious if anyone has done this yet ... I doubt I'm the first.

POST 2Original post

Pete, Yes they are ODBII compliant and it should work with no problems. Rob

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Rob, Have you used one? I know our cars are OBDII compliant {it's the law} QUESTION is ... which protocol type does Porsche use? There are three types PWM, VPW and ISO9141/14230. I think our cars are ISO, but not sure.

POST 4Original post

Without a Porsche System Tester (PST2) you will only be able to access the basic parameters of the OBD2

POST 5Original post

How about this software, they list support for porsche and it looks quite detailed...even gives you horsepower, coolant temp, inkate manifold Pressure readings and so on... http://www.auterraweb.com/scantoolsoftware.html

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeh, that's great stuff! Thanks for the link. I'll give them a ring, they must know which protocol PCars use. Based on search of "Auterra" I ran into a few threads on the 993 board about resetting the CEL {check engine light} using this and other OBD tools. ... We don't need no stinkin PST2! Thanks again Keyvan!

Would this allow someone with a palm to reset ourselves and what other advantages do you see. Also could you let me know all the items i would need from these guys. Doug

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Doug, I don't know yet. But, over on the 993 board, their are some guys who have done this. Check out that thread here.
