Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry if this had been discussed, but did not find it after a few searches (might have searched wrong terms, of course) Just wondering if anyone purchased and installed the new map updates that came out a little while ago. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

updates for PCM-II? I have not heard of those.

POST 3Original post

Suncoast's website lists a 2008 map and software update for PCM 2.0. There is also a 'pinned' / sticky thread on the Renntech 996 forum.

Just had to chuckle--the site recommends "Professional Installation" Sounds pretty easy to me!

mmm yea you will need "Professional Installation" if you dont have "Version 3.0", that can only be does via the Dealer... But if you already had your PCM II Updated when the First Update came out in 2004... You just insert the new Cd's and sit back and relax, untill it updates itself...

Update for any of those who might be interested--the nice folks at Sunset sent me the update instructions, which were not quite as trivial as I had thought. Luckily the previous owner did update to 3.0, which, as Zookie indicated, does make it simple.

POST 10Original post

I just took a look and wanted to make sure that I am correct. $329 just to update the maps?

POST 11Original post

I did this update on the Cayenne. It is very easy, and it made a HUGE difference. The system was essentially worthless to me with the original discs because they didn't have detail beyond major streets in my home city. The new discs have everything. I'm very pleased with the update.

yes, specially where i live its a up and coming area, so lot of streets and areas were added, worth it for me...

POST 13Original post

The price of that is another reason why I think portable units are better in many ways. A Garmin map update comes out one a year and I will pay the $75 update fee every other year. All GPS units in the U.S. have road maps made by one one of just two data providers, so they are working from the same place. Aside from that it's the software that separates all of them. I think the Garmins of the world do the best job at that. Of course built-ins are always there and don't get stolen. That's a huge advantage.

POST 15Original post

So what the hell do I do with my completely useless PCM 1.0? Grumble grumble
