Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The local Porsche dealer recently put a new engine in my 2001 C2 (only 4,000 on the odometer), because of an RMS leak. The new engine seems to have a different exhaust note and also seems to have more power. My thought is that maybe they put in the 3.6 engine. The service manager at the dealer is not any help. How can I tell? Does anyone know?
Friday, I hope for your sake they didn't put in a new motor...
Considering that
motors are electric.
Your Pcar wouldn't be much faster then my street legal 48volt golf cart that goes 25mph.
If you have to plug it in to a garage outlet, it's a motor... if you have to pay $2+ dollars a gallon for a liquid, it's an engine.
Just joking
I don't think you would have gotten the 3.6 as there are vario cam differences as stated above and a DME issue would have been an issue as well if you have the X51 on there. Your new engine probably came with some new intermediate cats giving it the different sounding exhaust. (I believe it's the intermediate ones that come on your new engine). I had this same thing happen on my 3.6 as I thought the new engine sounded deeper, throatier then the last.
