Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just coming home from a work-out, sitting at a red-light in my beautiful cabriolet and WHAM... this 80 year old lady scrapes my rear bumper with her 1990 Audi! I'm soooo pissed!!!!

POST 2Original post

Sorry dgray, that sucks! I take it that no one got hurt...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Correct, no one was hurt and I espcially feel bad for this poor old lady. I'm finally cooled off now and ready to stay home for a couple of cold ones! Thanks for the condolences!

POST 4Original post

Fender benders like that are so annoying. Next time she might hurt herself or someone else really bad... I think you should get retested for your drivers license every 2 years over the age of 70... JMTC. Sorry to hear it bro... but your car will be good as new in no time!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No doubt riad... this woman definately shouldn't be on the road - enough said. I just wish I was driving ANY other car but this one - I just took delivery last month and have put on a mere 300 miles, and have yet to hit open roads up into north country, etc. At least the bumper rash is black to match my interior and soft top!

POST 6Original post

damn, sorry to hear that. At least she wasn't going 80!

POST 7Original post

Look at it this way: 1) it cant be worst than a 30tonner ramming into you like it happened to me 2) it'll surely come back from the repair looking like a garage queen, like mine! Keep up the spirit! Waz

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Waz, your kindness is very much appreciated! I'm still bummin' since she's my dream car come true - and yes... she's a spoiled garage queen like your's! On a positive note, the bumper isn't dented or cracked and she is still drivable. Took her over to our local independent exotic sales/repair/body/restorer shop (Hatch & Sons, Wayland, Ma) and all it will take is a complete bumper remove/re-paint/re-mount. Got a new 4.0 mega pixel camera yesterday, so I'll be posting some good pics AFTER she's cleaned up again. dgray

POST 9Original post

you should also take some pics of the damage before the repaint. will be handy if and when you sell the car and the buyer asks about the repaint.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks John! I now have my camera re-sized to 1024x768... should be good to for future posts!!

POST 12Original post

I have had scrapes like that before, and believe it or not, they is not as bad as you think. Before you start considering repaints, and bumper cover replacements, take some 3M general purpose adhesive remover (or some carb cleaner) and go over the black marks. Most of that will come right off, then some good rubbing compound and glaze will probably make the rest of it disappear. If there are still some marks, contact your local dealer, for the name of the guy that does their used car pre-sales prep. These guys can airbrush out what marks are left, and you will never know it ever happened.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Orient... good counsel, thanks. BTW, just checked out your Cab and you have a beautiful car. I especially like the silver carrera script on the deck lid, and big reds. I had done the same to my 993 black coupe. The silver had better contrast versus black on black, and the big reds look great. Here's a link to the awards section of the website for the shop that will repair my bumper. At this point, I'm inclined to go with their reccomendation based on their experience. http://www.hatchandsons.com/pages/awards

POST 14Original post

riad... you said it. Far to often I see some elderly appearing not to have a clue. This past wk end a van filled with ill state cared folks was cut off out in the badlands area, a dangerous highway section on the way to Palm Springs by a 75 yr old women in her MBZ. If I recall, all were injured with 1 or 2 dead after the van flipped. The woman is claiming she didn't recall cutting the van off... We have far to many elderly folks driving when they shouldn't be. I would support whole heartedly, testing yearly, both written and ride along. Dgray996, I feel for ya... Thank God it wasn't worse...

POST 15Original post

...but I didn't luck out as well as you. Just keep in mind, it can always be worse. I'm glad you weren't hurt. This is my incident last week when a lady (talking on her phone) driving a dually pulled out in front of me. I couldn't stop and squeaked between her and a telephone poll. Make sure your clear coat is still in tact or you will want to have that baby repainted.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Robyn, I feel much worse for you... any injuries?

POST 17Original post

No, no injuries. They held me back from wanting to well...you know! Same thing with me, she is my dream come true. I take it personal when someone hits her, it's hard not to, you know? Everybody came out of this fine, that is what insurance is for and I'll have my baby back in no time. (Three weeks) All the damage is superficial...so it's all good. I'm glad yours wasn't serious. I hope she wasn't going too fast and that there wasn't any damage on the interior, such as your mufflers or suspension.

POST 18Original post

ARGH! Robyn, what happened to your baby! Glad to hear you're ok. I'm sure she'll be good as new in no time.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Robyn, also glad you okay and I'd like to see pics of your ride once it's put back together. Is she used on the track as well as the street?
