This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Are there any obviouse signs that the Porsche Sports Exhaust is fitted to a car? Is it visually different?

POST 2Original post

This applies to the Sports Exhaust with the deactivation capability. Look at the mufflers from underneath. The stock exhaust has two pipes coming out of it. The Sports exhaust has three pipes and there is a valve on one of the pipes to allow for the opening and closing of the pipe to the baffles within the muffler.

POST 3Original post

Matt, what appears to be the problem ? it's normally fairly obvious due to the sound of the thing, ie std 996 is probably no noisier than the wifes hair dryer !!! do you suspect the valves are jammed shut or something ? Regards PKJ

POST 4Original post

Hey! Anyone knows if I can change only the valves ? One side of my car has a broken valve.. Now I cant deactivate the exhaust, its wide open all the time... Thanks, Conrado

POST 5Original post

"obvious signs"???? How about that sweet music of PSE. Trust me, if you have it, you will know it. Nice low purr (stock)......Rumble and Growl like a pissed off car on a mission (PSE).

POST 6Original post

You can look if there is a switch for to turn it on and off to the left of the radio / PCM unit. And of course you can turn your left hand and listen!!

POST 7Original post

Conrado, I saw your post on Renntech. In looking at my PSE it looks like the valve is easily removed. (As shown in your photo.) Could you find someone who has PSE without the electronics and take their valve? Without electronics, the only reason to have the valve is to hold the flap open. I have seen others on this site who have welded the flap open no longer requiring the presense of the valve. Just an idea.
