Can any of you reccomend a quality transport company for shipping P-Cars ?? I am in Jacksonville, Florida and need to have a car transported to Miami. Buyer wants covered transport if possible. If anybody knows or has dealt with a reputable company that they could recommend in this part of the country, let me know. thanks

I've used Intercity twice to transport a 356B from Atlanta to NY and a Ferrari Dino from Ft. Lauderdale to NY. No problems either time and they were the cheapest of the companies I surveyed. They advertise in Excellence and Porsche Panorama.

I agree about horseless carriage. Excellent service but timing was variable. I have shipped several cars including my Pcar (2002 C4S) and other exotics. Most recently I used A-1 Auto Transport [phone removed] for enclosed transport. They had the best bid. They subcontracted it out to Platinum in CA at [phone removed]. They handle Pcars, Fcars et al. They were excellent. That is the secret ( sort of)- most are merely brokers not actual transporters. They subcontract the job to various smaller companies or individual drivers on their network. If price is important ( i.e 1700 for me versus 3500 MI to PA), then shop the brokers until you get the price and time you want. It really comes down to someone having a slot and going your way when you want it and giving a lower bid than someone starting a job with you as the anchor. Good Luck. Scott S

Fortunately, transport companies almost always secure Porsches with straps around the tires (mandated by PNA, I was told), so you shouldn't have to worry about poor judgement in selecting an undercarriage bit to wrap a chain around. You may just want to verify this with your carrier. -DT
