off the porsche, i've had the thing for 3 months now, has 10,000 miles on it, had 700 when i bought it, so i figure to get me out of it as a driving to work car i needed something fairly fun to drive to keep me from driving the porsche too much, i test drove the regular mini S and it was ok, surprising amount of room, the power was a little lacking, but i figure the Works adds about 40 more HP, which should be significant in a small lightweight car?

at a recent track day, i was behind a mini s with 200+ hp and surprisingly, he was not that easy to overtake. this, on a track with a very long sweeping front straight (fontana). it took nearly 2/3rds of that straight to finally get past. i thought at the time, if that mini had another 50 hp, it would be a giant-killer.
I've had a mini copper-s for the last 15 months, and put 15K on the clock.
In it's own way it's as much fun to drive as the p car..you can drive it much closer to it's limit than you can the 911.
FYI, you can do just as well buying an s and modding it with an exhaust, intake, and a reduction pulley to acheive "work's specs'. Add an H&r sport spring set and you have one hot mini.
There are lots of instances where I prefer to take the cooper over the porsche, especially into town or somewhere where I need to valet.
It's a hoot to grab a mini parking spot and watch some SUV try to take the spot when I leave...it takes them a while to figure out they just aren;t going to fit.<g>
I look at my mini like I do the mirowave..an appliance I will always own.

Not change into a R32 thread but I thought the R32 was basically a GTI with AWD and a small bump up in hp and torque. I'm starting to see them in my neighborhood, they do look nice.
ya but then id have to find someone to put it in, not telling how much that would cost in addition to the 5k for that stage3, and it would void the warranty on the engine since it has to be taken apart
