Clean filter to rinse with deionized (or at least filtered) water, and the car doesn't spot as badly or quickly as I hand dry it.

Drying the car by hand not only gives me the oppurtunity to inspect the paint for any nicks, tar, bugs etc, but it is a labor of love, and I enjoy doing it.

I used the Mr Clean wash today. First, it is 35 degrees outside , so I did not want to spend too much time outside (or get the garage wet), so I did rush the wash Overall, I am pleased; it did not completely auto dry, but the area that remained wet were clearly where I had missed soaping the car. The question is it worth several dollars to save the hassle's of hand drying the car? Personally, I do not think so. Drying the car by hand not only gives me the oppurtunity to inspect the paint for any nicks, tar, bugs etc, but it is a labor of love, and I enjoy doing it.

A friend uses the Mr. Clean system on his blue M3 and swears by it. He lets it air dry and has minimal spots( our water here is terribly hard). I still use Zaino car wash and hand wash the Carrera, but use the Mr. Clean filter to rinse with deionized (or at least filtered) water, and the car doesn't spot as badly or quickly as I hand dry it.

I never dry my Cab off by rubbing. I "blot" it using a few white cotton bath towels that I steal from my wife. H*ll, the water is clean and there is no sense rubbing it (the car, that is) any more than necessary.

Yeah, the hardness of the water makes a big difference. My wife thought I was crazy when I had a soft water tap run to the garage when we built our house (usually outside taps are unsoftened water), but it makes a huge difference--I get very little spotting even if I do a minimal job drying my Seal grey car. I like the fact that I don't have to do much rubbing on the finish with towels--just a little blotting usually does OK. Andy
