Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

When my car showed 1 bar below, it actually took in half a quart to get to the full level when I used the dipstick.
Leading evidence: 'Use dipstick' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check during refuelling' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

how would you know if you were running dry - unless of course you knew to check the indicator all the time.

But I dont think there is any ongoing check of oil level.

Suggestion
For example checking the oil level on a public road will not work as all roads are banked so that rain water flows to the side.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ideally you want to keep it at least two bars away from the very top and very bottom, cause it's really not that acurate espcailly if your comparing readings from hot and cold their can be a measurable fluctuation. Also the car has to be on a perfectly flat surface. For example checking the oil level on a public road will not work as all roads are banked so that rain water flows to the side.
But isnt good enough to just check it when you start the car looking at the little Bar display inside the car ?? If it just indicating almost fuld on a flat surface ?
Keep it at most 1 bar from the top, measured after car is up to operating temp (180). If you add oil, do so in small increments, for example 200-250cc at a time, and recheck. Its easy to overfill.
are there warning lights that come on if you are about to run out of oil, or, if there is little to no oil left in your car?
how would you know if you were running dry - unless of course you knew to check the indicator all the time.
Check oil level indicator will show up if oil level is to low. But I dont think there is any ongoing check of oil level. You will probaly only see it by the Oil pressure starts to flucturate and get down to zero. If so, turn the engine off right away.....no matter if that means while driving the car.
Normal range is between 4 and 1 when in idle.
how is using the oil meter in the car different from using the dip-stick? isn't the dipstick more accurate? When my car showed 1 bar below, it actually took in half a quart to get to the full level when I used the dipstick. was I doing injustice to my car?
The oil level is automatically check during refuelling. If the oil level is too low, the "Check oil level" warning appears in the OBC display if the engine is at operating temperature. But please don't wait for the tell-tell sign from oil pressure.
The difference between the min. & max. mark is about 1 quart. Do not overfill.
Cheers.
